i'm new to using the equinox 800 and when i go detecting with what ever machine,i target and dig all coins, while we still have them and bank them.this morning i took out my new equinox800 to a park nearby.turn it on in park 1 and proceeded to detect the area.found numerous old and new coins in the ground.thought i was doing okay, then i saw a 20 cent coin laying out in the open, ran the coil over it,hang on,no responce, what's going on here.different directions, still no responce.hmmm tried park 2,strong responce.kinda makes me wonder how many other faint or weak signal i didn't dig in park 1 were in fact keepers.no more park 1's for me.emubob

further to that,i remember using the ace 250,it wouldn't respond to 20 cents in coin mode either, only in relic mode.emubob

Park 1 should work just fine, well mine does (did you have any notch or discrim set?). The problem I find with the Equinox is the target vdi spread is not ideal for 20c and 50c pieces, far too much other junk falls in this range, so this is not the machine for cherry picking those coins. However it is extremely accurate for $$$$goldies with the right tone setup, and the depth is outstanding, I've never dug goldies so deep and I've owned the more expensive machines. There are other machines with a a larger vdi spread that can id 20c and 50c more accurately, this is the reason I own more than one detector. All round the nox is a better machine than most, but some others can do some little things slightly better.

further to my little crisis i have reverted back from the soft ware update and did a factory reset.now every thing is working properly again.no more dabbling for me,emubob
