Big gale coming, calling for 12 footers and snow on the Big Lake tomorrow!...but today was a balmy 45 degrees with a 10mph on shore wind, a guy can only live one day at a time...so a guy has to go out! Hit a bit of sheltered inland water at 10am with the AtPro. Started getting some older tabs, sinkers, a few wheats, figured a guy has to settle down and work it right and not worry about the leaky waders, or the paltry clad coming in...

My hunting buddy texted me at noon, he was hunting a different spot 20 miles away...He already had 5 rings, a ton of clad, a Merc, and a load of wheaties! So I had to give this area another shot to have something worthy..We dont really compete with each other, just try to inspire each other to greatness, which is good, a guy needs a kick every now and then.. Finally hit this 4.6gr 14k at @ 1 oclock! This gave me a shot of adrenaline and all of a sudden, I was not so tired or uncomfortable!...[attachment 302096 oct3014-3.jpg][attachment 302097 oct3014-2.jpg]

Waders were leaking to be danged, but I continued to work slow and steady hoping to double up!...pulling old targets..[attachment 302098 oct3014-1.jpg].
Called it quits at 2:30 peeled off the waders and headed for the house, looking like this..stopped to buy myself a celebratory beer and the kid behind the counter took one look and said, "I think you've had enough for one day already" [attachment 302099 oct3014-4.jpg]. I dont know if these waders have another hunt in them or not, but the hunt for GOLD sure has a way of pulling a guy into the water in all sorts of weather....

Does look kinda suspicious Mud!!

Congrats on the gold and "getting out there" before Ol Ma Nature put the kibosh to hunting for a while!!

Very nice gold 14K ring!!! You now have our permission to sell that ring and buy yourself a new pair of waders!

Very nice ring!

I think if I were the store clerk I would have offered to sell you some Depends, along with the beer.

A motivated hunter you are!
Cheers,

Nice find I don't think I ever saw one like that , it looks like its folded over on itself. Wet or dry finding gold makes your day.

H.H.

A nice bit of gold. :clapping: It's telling you to get some new waders. Is that a brass prop from an RC boat? I found one of those last year and a guy offered me $25 for it. Didn't know those things were so expensive.

Nice job on that gold Mud! I try to double up all the time myself- it never works for me, but someday it will!

I gotta laugh at your wet spot. I wear a wader belt, usually get a little over the top, and it always seems to migrate down and wet my crouch area. Same dilemma, I stop at a convenience store and everybody stares. I now carry a pair of sweat pants to wear when I am done!

Wow brother you killed the treasure!! Very nice catch on the Gold! And I know about the storm, I'm in Chicago and here is what is headed this way.. Luckily I brought my hunting equipment and I'm three blocks from one of the beach's.

OBN! You are in the right place for when this drops! You should be seeing 25 footers peeling of a hundred years of sand shortly! I'm watching the Muskegon Surfcam, this morning, it looks like the opening shot from Hawaii Five-0, except theres snow squalls and its 70 degrees cooler! Will you be hunting with Chicago Ron? He has some good youtube vids of hitting those beaches after a big blow like this one..Good Luck!

We up here are hoping this straight N wind peels back the sand all the way up to the road..it will be one mammoth slugfest if it does..

Syd, I do believe you are correct about the propeller...looks old and off a boat instead of a lure...my greatgrandfather built a working model steamtug back in the day, took him all winter to make all the parts by hand..my Uncle said they took it out and launched it and watched as it merrily steamed off into the sunset never to be seen again! This was before RC controls of course, a guy had to bend the rudder just right so the boat would make a circle...evidently the rudder was not bent just right!

I brought my waders in the house this am, gonna try to dry them off and then spray the hell out of them with some sort of auto undercoating or that stuff they sell on TV where the guy makes a boat out of a screen door or something..:lmfao:
I've already gooped them up with aquaseal last year, one leak patched and another one shows up!...or else I'll just go 'commando', and put on dry pants after I'm done hunting!. I dont know..the way gold prices crashed this morning, I doubt this ring would buy me much in the way of waders...I'm cheap, those pants cost me 25cent, and those shoes are at least 10yrs old! Thanks guys, I hit 5 of the 7 gold rings this year in the last 30 days...Sept/Oct/Nov are generally when I do well...one big blowout and a guy can double that total easy..

WAY TO GO MUD.

"I would give the world to see
How I used to be
When I had no axe to grind
Except for chopping wood

Day was day, and night was night
Wrong, was never right
Didn't matter where I went
As much as where I stood

I had dreams, average size
There were stars in the skies
Not my eyes

Then I got...
Gold fever
Nothin' can help you
But the yellow stuff"

(Gold Fever-Paint Your Wagon 1969)

Mud, all I can say is your crazy!! I haven't stepped foot in the water since last month. Congrats on the yellow.
