G,day Bobby.
BT is me and the reason I dont use my full name, just the initials, is that I have a love of writing and detecting but not a love of making a big name of myself as such. I often have mates put people onto me to help them learn a machine and often they have no idea thats its "BT" they are out with and thats just fine by me. I dont go out of my way to tell them either.
I used to live in Queensland here in OZ and conducted Minelab training days for new machine purchasers at a place called Clermont. There were times when I had around 15 to 20 people and none of them knew it was me, well you know what I mean.
I have tested many machines out and written on them for the simple purpose of passing on whatever knowledge I can gain to others.
I dont know it all , wish I did, and am always willing to learn from others. I reckon if someone teleported me to the USA in their goldfields I would need all the help I could get to gain an understanding of their own unique conditions and the best way to run a detector over there.
Minelab have at times asked me to test machines because I give a completely unbiased opinion even when I once was working for a Whites dealership over here at the time in the shop. The main man for the Minelab advertising over here really is a straight up kind of person and does his best to bring reliable info on the new gear to light.
Have a good one Bobby.

Wow BT, if your Who I think you are, then you sure do know your stuff !

Nice of you to have posted the above,
Appreciate it.

Regards
Bobby.

Gosh B.T and Bobbylikesgold... This is great... A chance to learn more
about using a detector to find gold.

I have a X-terra 70 and trying to learn how to use it in the "aluvial"
gold fields. Thus, I will follow any and all posts. Whatever, from basic to advanced...

Hey BT,

It is great to see a fellow Aussie online here esp one who uses an XT70. I am in Queensland and am hoping to someday take my XT70 out to a gold field to see what I can scratch up with it. What coils are you using to find the gold? I haven't really been following the convo since currently I am kinda laid up with a broken leg and detecting is a bit far off for me right now but once I am up to it, I am sure I'll be out with either my XT70 or ExpII. Fortunately, I am off to work in the Gold Coast so I'll get alot of practice on the beaches there.

btw, you think that Minelab'll make a larger HF coil such as 12"?

cheers...Brissietex

Hi Brissietex.
The main coil I use is the 18.75 elliptical DD.
Its dynamite on just about all gold types.
Crystalline, spongy, fine gold species, rough reef gold.
Even fine gold specks down to 1/40th of a gram.
Good luck when you get out.

Well, now that I am finally able to just walk after 6+ months on crutches, I may just be able to do that. I've got the 5x10 HF coil but may pick up the 10" HF sometime.

cheers...Brissietex
