For better or for worst, the Track is back in business.

We finished up the track yesterday, and spent the rest of it putting in a transponder. Electronic counter. A chip on the bike and the rest of it in the ground at the finish line. We have the results to print out in put up in less than a minute. We just need to finish the fencing and flagging today, more hay bales on edges and the covers over those. Not a minute to soon as we have and Open practice race at 9:00am until 3:00pm, re dose if needed and then a full blown motocross race all day Sunday.... Not sure how the new track will hold up as its all new dirt, clay etc, in the infield were we got flooded out. Its raining here today so its wetting it down a lot for us to pack it more and keep the dust down off the new bottom clay. I'm happy to see this week come to and end.
One beat buckeroo. I will get shots with it all set up with racers on is this weekend so you can see the finished deal, but here are a few as we started finished off the jumps.....

#1 picture is our test dummy trying out a nice 60 foot jump by the pump house. As you can see we were still cleaning off the edges. No dust on these..

#2 pictures is one of our spectator jumps...Its close to the fence line and they are right up over your head. This is about a 100 foot leap from point of
launch to touch down on the back side of the other jump, with plenty of extra area for landing short.

#3...Start line if a go....Put in a new chicken coup over the trip lever so the guys close to it can't see when the guy starts to trip it....Makes it more fair for all.

#4.. A wider shot of the infield of the track......Still filling river cuts in, but those were finished last night...

#5..Our club house....

#6...Using the bucket to smooth and pack the edges of the new jumps.....

Looks like nice cool weekend, temps in upper 50's to low 60's....perfect for motocross.... Just need the turnout......

located in Central Village, CT. at the the end of Cady Lane. The river runs along the side of us. Big Trout hatchery just down the road.
I doubt that will show much from the road other than the entrance..... Google earth does show it very well. Here is a picture of it about 12 years ago when we were still a small club taken from a plane....

homes you see in there also, plus if you go up to the left looking at it we own all the way up to the state forest and the trailer park. Its the only way be can keep our sanity. Buy out the neighbors. We rent the homes and use the fields for parking. We can't call them parking areas or we have to pave them over. As long as we don't call them we can use them for our events.. Crazy..... Fun place it you like motocross. I like it, did all my life and also like playing with the equipment.... Just a big sandbox for me......

back don't like the bouncing around anymore but its for a worthy cause in my view. We give to alot of organizations and gives the kids, and adults something to do besides get in trouble. Not completely fool proof but the kids that really get into it and race our full circuit, race every weekend almost. We are part of a big New England race loop. They race us in CT, then, Middleboro, Ma, Lyman, Maine, East Lempster, NH, Southwick, Ma, Minot Maine, Templeton, Ma and one at Epping NH. It runs from April 4th, until October 31. By then everyone has had enough or need a rebuilt or the kids are back in school. My son has been doing it since he was 9 years old.
I started back in 1965 on a Triumph 500 one lunger, then moved into 2 strokes and never looked back. I raced Bultaco's, Pursangs in motocross, Elbandito 360 in flat track, and Matador in Enduro's. In between tried them all, Yamaha, Susuki, Ossa, a Maico 500, even had and old Greeves and a CZ and right at the end a Husqvarna. Which I still had them all, but don't have any of them.

This is our race schedule for this year....

For whatever reason, this puter at work doesn't show the icons or pictures. Just doesn't have the proper program loaded to do so.

We purchase all we can.... Our intent was to always use the big field across the brook from the club to hold a National Race. but we never had the parking for it. That also was completely under water. Being a flood plane area we keep hitting snags, so we just rent it out to the farmers for hay.... There going to build a housing complex there. Not sure how a housing development was fine, but not a dirt track....$$$$$$$$ talks I guess. We bought it up and just use it and pretty much all you see around the track as a buffer for noise, dust. We keep getting contractors who want to buy the track up as it is a big gravel bank and its getting harder to come by. We use that gravel, sand and clay ourselves so it really don't interest us. We have a hare scramble that runs thru all those woods. From there we have a 85 mile course that runs thru the Pachaug State Forest and we hold Enduros on it in the fall. We actually got a grant from the goverment to do that. We maintain the 75 mile trails and 10 private miles off the state land. We only race on it once a year, the rest of the time everyone uses it. Mt bikers, horses, registered quads, hikers.... Fact I have a map of it here in a pdf file but its almost 5 meg. I may have a smaller one that might go up here. Fun ride... We wait until they all leave by 10:00am, then wait another hour then we all ride sweep except for members at check points and dangerous area. We pick up all the arrows, relock gates to private lands or state lands and have a great time. We get back around 4:00pm then have a big chicken cook out, give out the awards and a bunch of freebie stuff from all the bike vendors around we support. Sometimes a band if weather is good and its not to late in the year...
We are a NETRA also which is the New England Trail Riders Association.... Google it and you will there web site....

I feel the hobby keeps me young in the mind. Body don't like it a lot of times but thats the way it goes......

thanks for the picture of it... I'll save it and put it on the web site in the forums....

Don't mind the long post rambling... I'm like a kid on opening day of hunting or fishing season when it comes to our first race. Just hope it all works out right and they all have a ball. We should have less injurys with this new layout.....

Its a really small picture I took of it with lousy detail...The full version is on our Website if you want to see it in the forums. Its a PDF file...
Lots of detail... to go to our club site, just click here Central Cycle Club.. I do the web site for the club
so you will see my name all over it. No one wanted to do it so I did..... Lots of pictures in the forums... Also if you want to see what we started as click on the icon on the front page for History....I've been making it up for the club as I go along and get pictures from members etc.... OK, here is the image I have here small size. AT the top of it the bright red is the start at the club...at the bottom in lower right in the bright red is the half way point that is in Rhode Island.... The orange is the main route then, the blue is old routes of state forest roads which we use on race day. The whites are mostly access roads we can use if we get a injury out there, we can get in with quads, bikes whatever. Thats how I see Mikies woods in BC. Perfect hard core woods enduro or hare scrambles that will give the best of them a hard days work... I loved it when I was still doing it. 2 herniated disc say no more dummy...

youngsters appreciate what they have or do they just expect it now? That takes a lot of work and a hell of a lot of money for sure. Quite a complex:super:

most come in as young kids. Their parents join so they can ride so they do all the work until the kids turn 18. Then they have to join or leave. When you join you need to earn 150 points a year or 3 points and hour. If you work 3 events you have that or work work partys and get your points. You must work 2 events. To some degree, the kids get used to seeing the parents do the work. A few make them work also, like cutting grass, weed wacking, whatever then can do. At about age 18 many get girlfriends and loose interest for awhile and come back later. The hoard core riders stay with if they are good enough to get noticed. Very fee turn pro... We have had maybe 8 of our riders make it to pro status and get a sponsor. We have 1 right now riding pro. He was doing good until he hurt his back. Came off a big jump and cased it. The force of him coming down hitting the seat broke his back. he has a steel rod put in 2 months ago and they say he will be riding again next month. Josh Clark is his name, he rides #251... Last I heard, Warhog gave him a new 450 bike for the outdoor AMA series. I watched him ride for along time at our club. Nice clean cut kid, very quiet but serious about riding. They have been telling us the only reason they kept him is because of his drive, he gives 110 percent. When the National for Motocross are at Southwick, Mass, a lot of the pro's with their big 18 wheelers come down and stay at our track for the week before to practice. We love it. We let all pro's in for free as we get to often ride with them and they really help the guys out. Jphn Dowd rides at our track all the time and is a honorary member. He was national champ for many years. Doug Henry and many others come down when ever around the area. The are both Mass. boys. Fact here is one from John Dowd.....and Josh Clark.... I watched these to learn to ride and grow up....

Classic examples of the ole' do it right or stay home theory. That looks like a monster task......gotta be a labor of love. I've no doubt you guys are much appreciated for your hard work. The place looks like it's ready to rock. Hope you have an excellent turnout this weekend

so many parents now days would not think of making their kids work and then when they hit the real world they are unprepared. Sounds like you guys have found the formula. How many members do you have? How is it supported?
