For all you Tesoro Fans

For all you Tesoro Fans
Who want a beep and dig that's a step up from Tesoros.
For years I was saying take a look at the DeepTech detectors.
Biggest drawback for many was the disc. range of only up to small foil.
DeepTech listened and the result was the New Vista X with expanded disc range.
Like a Tesoro ED180.
I rec'd a sample for field testing, arrived the other day here in Canada.
So far I like what I have seen and heard.

Did some bench testing tonight.
Very sensitive to small gold.
Interesting the way the two disc controls, iron volume/ silencer and 1-2 tones work. Very clever.
No manual at this time to refer to. Learning by doing. Ziggy in the UK had some how to use info in his Vista X video. Will have to watch it again.
Very interesting detector that has real potential as a coin and jewelry detector with its expanded disc. range.
Will get out this weekend with it.

Looking forward to your report! I'd be interested to know if thumbing the disc knob works similarly to how it does on Tesoros. I often use that technique to get a better idea of what the target is.

===================================

"Reminds me of a Tejon with the 2 disc."

=========================================

Disc controls work a bit different than a Tejon.
Works with the the Iron Volume control.
Iron Volume Control-- from Max setting to about 3/4 controls Iron Volume and in this area changes disc. to 2 tone
from about 3/4 to 1/2 setting changes 2 tone to single tone.
from min. to about 1/2 all discriminated out items produce no audio.

Disc controls-- If running two tone, depending upon where set, all discriminated out produces a low tone, accepted items produce a high sound.

Now you can set Disc 1 to disc out foil for example, to give a low tone, all higher conductors give a high tone. Set Alt Disc 2 to accept a pull tab to give a high tone.
So if looking for a particular conductor that fall in between that range, you know its foil, with a low tone. Switch to Alt disc.if it remains a low tone, its not a pull tab, as it will give a high tone. You can set up like a notch window.

So there are a bunch of options to make disc work for you.

Keith Southern also rec'd a Vista X, he said Tesoro fans would really be impressed with the X. Thread has been started on Tom D's Forum. He has a ton to say about it.
I will give a run down hunting coins and jewelry in schools and parks, crossing my fingers the rain stays away this weekend. Good thing the X is water resistant.
The Vista X is what the Tejon could have been had Tesoro listened................................

Has full disc ability and the ability to find a 12 grain gold nugget air test about 5" with the 9x11 coil. Will detect a small gold jump ring and does well finding a small thin gold ear loop that would give other detectors fits. Reminds me of the Vista Gold's capability locating gold.

Guys take a good look a the Vista X. If its something your interested in Richard at Backwoods Metal Detectors (Findmall Sponsor) is your dealer.

You should become a dealer for them.
Already have one Richard at Backwoods Metal Detectors, think he was the orig. dealer for them. He's a Findmall sponsor.

If Deep Tech doesn't have a English manual, Sven could write it.

Believe the manual is in the works and think Ziggy was working on it.
For the most part, the Vista X controls work like all other Vista models, you can use those manuals.
Just the two disc controls need some explanation on how to use them.

Had the Vista X out today, first hunt in some trashy schoolyards to see how it would handle it. Will post a report on the DeepTech forum later on.

Looks like really cool beep and dig, really curious how it compares to the GMP

It has a nice analog type tone from what I saw on a YouTube video. I wish it had a couple more tones but seems to be a hot detector.

Yes, analog, Keith posted a new in depth video.
Two tone is actually nice, with some blending, nuances.

Should be an interesting detector. Watched a couple of videos on YouTube and it looks promising. Perhaps, Deeptech could purchase Tesoro. Then, they could move production to Arizona gold country!

How well does it pinpoint with the double D coil? How does it compare to Tesoro?

There is no pinpoint button on the detector---
Stock 9x11 pinpoints as well as any other detector with a DD coil. The 5.7" DD coil pinpoints fast and dead on.
They will be producing a concentric coil that should be awesome.
