[size=medium]Hi Folks,

I have been on a dry spell for about a week or more.

heavy diggen and all. This morning I decided to use
tha huge data base in my TomTom GPS to try and find
a park that I haven

Very nice! I have been eyeballing that gold analyzer for a while. Is it fairly accurate? What are they going for? My birthday is coming up soon and my wifey will soon be asking me what I want.

Hay John,

I think those are about $150.

If you shop around you can get it a little cheeper.

I got mine used. It seems reliable.

You can google tha manual and read it.

You have to use three drops of acid to test.

Some people don't like messin with tha acid.

But it is reliable.

There are no markings inside that black ring

that I can see.

But, that's not a tungsten ring.

I found a $600 TruTungsten wedding band.

You can use a file on it. You can hit it with a

hammer. You can drag it across concrete.

You can put it on concrete and hit it with a

sledge hammer.

It will not scratch.

It's tha hardest metal known to man.

The only thing harder is a diamond.

copper & black metal rings are very unusual too, good job.

[size=medium]A couple of folks suggested tungsten.

I don't know much about tungsten carbide or tungsten alloys.

I did find a name brand $600 tungsten wedding band one time.

It's a TrueTungsten Wedding Band.

The store that sold it could not find the owner. They told me

that it's the hardest metal known. They said I could scrape it

on concrete or use a file on it and it would not scratch.

I tried both and there is not a single scratch on tha ring.

Then,,,,,,,,,,,,

I got to wonderin about tha black ring, so I used some fine

sand paper on it.

That revealed the copper underneath tha black.

I sanded one side.

Hey Tabdog, That's probably a black nickel finish that was on it. I had some brass done that way for some drummer's chimes I manufacturer. It was too expensive to put on the brass, but it produced a black, shiny finish. That might be what it is.

Some kind of gasket/compression fitting? The shape sort of reminds me of that.

Just a guess.

Nice finds, I have gold fever but no gold to show for it.
