You need to train yourself to always be looking for lost or misplaced items. If you go shopping, scan the parking lot for dropped coins as you walk to and from the store. When stopped at a traffic light, look over towards the curb, especially if there is a bus stop there. Anywhere you go, always scan the ground or parking area. A few years ago, when leaving a grocery store, I found $50 folded up laying on the asphalt parking lot. Another time, I spotted a $10 bill in the mud by the curb as I sat at a traffic light. Just recently, I took a metal detector out in my front yard and within minutes found a dime and a penny, not much, but every little bit counts and I threw them in a mason Jar with some other coins that I had found.
Earlier this week, we drove over to my Son's home for dinner. When we arrived, we were informed that he was running late from work. As a result, I decided to take my grandson to a small neighborhood park across the neighborhood from where they lived. After parking my truck, as we approached the gate, I spotted a large coin at the edge of the asphalt where the grass meets the parking lot. Just a small part of the coin was exposed and I reached down and picked it up. It was a large Mexican peso, yes a Mexican coin of all things! When we arrived back at my son's house, I showed the coin to my daughter-in-law and my wife. Heather told me that there were two homes a few doors down from the park that are occupied by several Mexican families. One house has plumbing trucks parked out in front of it and the other has a couple of roofing trucks parked in front of the house. She told me that on New Year's day, there were lots of Hispanics at the park having a picnic and generally having a big party. That explained why the coin that I found was a Mexican coin. The point that I am making is that I was scanning the parking lot as I entered the park, and as a result, I found a coin. You need to train yourself to always scan the parking lots, or anywhere else you may go. You never know what you will find. Kelley (Texas)
PS: Here is the coin that I found at the neighborhood park.
