"Fob?" Identification Needed

Blind Squirrel

Well-known member
Howdy--

I dug this item in a vacant lot and I've never seen this design before. There are 2 letters on it: a W and a C. The reverse is blank. Can you identify it?

I scanned the merc for a size reference.

Thanks for any help. Have a great Thanksgiving and...

Happy Hunting!

"Woodmen Circle" (WC) is the female auxiliary to the Woodmen of the World organization(WOW). The Woodmen Circle was formed in the 1890's and lasted till 1965 thereafter absorbing into the Woodmen of the World organization.

I tried to find what your piece was used for and my best guess is that it's part of a ribbon medal. Here is a similar one but it's slightly different from yours. The image is only a thumbnail and the page is old and expired so you can't see it very well.

This one is the only one I could find that seems to be a match and is on treasure.......net.
There is no helpful info with it that explains its use but I'll attach the picture since it seems to show a little more detail(wedge in center, ect).

Thank you Aarong81 for all of that information! I agree with you that it is probably part of a ribbon medal. Metal-detecting is such an amazing hobby. By recovering lost or discarded items, we have the opportunity to learn more of our history and culture. Thanks again and have a great Thanksgiving.

Happy Hunting!
