Can anyone give me more information on this button? It was found at a Union Camp near an old house. I can't make out the back mark without my glasses. Where did I put those glasses?

Scoville/ Waterbury button Co. ? Nice find looks to have been gold gilted. I am by no means an authority on buttons, just taking a guess. It looks older than civil war era, I'm sure somebody out there knows a exactly what it is. Hope you get some good info on it as it is interesting. Ron

The Scovills backmark dates your button between 1827 and 1840. Nice find.
