Florida Beach Laws

Mike from FL

New member
Would someone please tell me the law in regards to hunting at eh beach and in the water edge on the Florida beaches. I have heard from so local folks that you cannot go in the water at all and other say its no big deal, I don't want to make any waves but can't get many answers the same.
Thanks to all who respond.

My understanding is that from "mean low tide" seaward is subject to lease and is not open to metal detecting. How stringently that is enforced is probably up to complaints from the lease holder or the enthusiasm of the beach patrol. While detecting the beach between Vero and Sebastian, I have seen the beach patrol many times, on ATV's, and they just waved. I do not know what they would have said if I were in the water.

Theres always someone who trys to say you can't do this or that. if the beach patrol is okay with it, I'd blow off the guy saying you can't.

hi guys, the law is from vero to sabastian inlet you can detect from the high tide make to the low tide line, if you are caught in the water or in the sand dunes you will go to jail, no questions asked. i metal detect in daytona beach, you can water hunt all you want, any were but the treasure coast.

the dry sand

are u saying u can not hunt the dry sand as well

can only hunt from high tide mark to low tide and not the dry sand about the high tide mark..................

i can see not the dunes.............but here we have a big dry sand area ..............or lets look at it this way..........we have the dune line............large dry sand area then damp to waters edge

i see from the pics down there that i looks just like here.

Here ya go.Check out this link http://www.treasuresites.com/members/sef.htm for were all of the leases are in this area, when in these areas don't get caught in the water or you could loose everything.. I live in Port Saint Lucie and hunt all of the Beach's from just north of Sebastian Inlet south. When in these areas it is safe to hunt from the foot of the dunes to the low tide line. Remember STAY OUT OF THE WATER IN THESE AREAS.

grave digger at the treasure coast, vero to sabastin inlet you can only hunt the high water mark, they dont want hunters near the dunes, if theres a hurricane, or northeaster the high water mark will be to the dunes and beyond, you can hunts were ever the water goes. good luck.
