Flat Button ??????

I have a large flat button about the size of a quarter - on the back "RICH GOLD COLOUR" with a floral design. What is it and from what time period?

I would say if you found this button at the same place you found the Eagle cuff button, slow down and hunt the dickens out of it! Have you found any lead or other artifacts there?

These flat buttons were manufactured and use from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. The spelling of "colour" means it was made in Europe and imported in.

I live in southern New Jersey and while detecting in trails behind my house today i found the same button maybe dime sized. and a larger button reading LONDON.DOUBLE.SUPERIOR. anyone know about these?

I had a flat button with a similar backmark that required ID, and someone told me they used "description back marks" pre 1850. Nice find!
