Flat button help

I am trying to date a site that I just found. I found this button there the other day, and was wondering if anyone knew what era it came from. It doesn't have a design on the front, and it is just a hair thicker than a penny, and almost the same diameter. If you can't read it, the back says "superior orange colour". I would appreciate any help, thanks.

Yes, I have the same button found at a site I know was exclusively occupied in 1836. Its English made from around 1780-1830.

Awesome! Thank you Bell! It is from an area near my town that was settled the earliest, and I was guessing that it was early to mid 1800's. Thank you for the confirmation. It was in a spot at the site that is the easiest to detect and only a couple inches down, so maybe it hasn't been hunted much. Wow, maybe I can pick up my first big copper, or seated, or bust... but I'll settle for a reale ;)

Good luck. I found my first Reale on the very next hunt after I found that button so maybe you will! BTW I am originally from Ft Smith/Fayetteville, you nearby?

Yeah, not too far, Springfield, MO. I'll take your good omen, and put my coil to the grind, thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm headed down to the Buffalo this weekend, gotta break in my new canoe, hope all this rain we've gotten brings the upper or middle up to a floatable level, don't wanna have to drive all the way down to the lower end. I'm guessin I can't do any detecting by the river, it's a National Park isn't it?

Havent been there since I was a kid but I think your right. Im more familiar with the Mullbery although most of that area is national forrest there are some spots around.

Good find, I hope that site pans out well. Is that a walleye you are holding? I get my limit every spring and some bigguns, but that one there has some belly on it- what was the length and weight of that? CO

It wasn't huge, only 24 incher. Not sure about the weight, I didn't check. It was the biggest one that I caught this year though. Fishin reports say they are hitting pretty good right now, but I haven't been out since the spring run. Got my first metal detector this year, and it kinda took over in the hobby department, very addicting :)

Any more with that site? One thing I do know when you find a button like that is that its time hit that spot hard!
