Just changed coils on my Xterra from an HF back to the stock coil.l turned the machine back on after the switch and now errant numbers flash on the screen and get corresponding tones. I removed and reinstalled the batteries which are only about an hour old. does anyone have any ideas? it is nowhere near any metal, l even waved it in the air with no change.

Sounds like severe EMI, a bad coil, or needs to be reset.
Try the factory reset first.
If that doesn't work, try putting the other coil back on to see if it's the machine or the coil.
Lastly, go somewhere else or wait a few hours and try again to see if it's an EMI issue that's affecting it. Data streams from wireless can drive your machine nuts.

Thank you sir, l went back to factory settings and that worked,l hope this isn't a repeating problem l have my fingers crossed.

:clapping: Good deal! Glad that it wasn't anything more troublesome.
Don't be afraid to do a reset from time to time. Some folks do it as periodic maintenance.
