Flakey/Bad Coil?

I have been looking out for a CTX coil to extract the internal circuit board from to run some experiments.
I received one but instead of the coil being bad, it looks like the soldering connection to the plug is marginal.
The coil does detect but there is randomly a bunch of signals like from excessive EMI.
I pinned it down to the plug by putting the CTX into pinpoint and manipulating the coil cable until I discovered the faulty connection at the plug.
It is not a plug/receptacle issue but an internal connection to the plug. Here's a short video of it.
I'm reluctant to cut open this coil to get the board - it is in too nice of shape and the coil is good. I'll have to see if there is a waterproof connector for it.
In the meantime, still looking for a coil to tear apart...

hmm well that one is kinda up to you depending on how much you payed for the coil. What kind of experiments are you wanting to run?

There have been posts of removing the board and attaching it to E-trak coils.
Doesn't really have to be an E-trak coil though - I want to make my own Bigfoot or attach the one I have to such a setup.
