I'm driving down to Fl from CO just to get away and do some MDing, I can go anywhere I want, can I get some suggestions for some beach hunting? I promise I won't take it all! My new M6 with the 10"DD will be here tomorrow!!!

The dry sand is dead like a desert....most cities now have machines that pick up stuff in the sand down to about 8 inches. Not even very many pull tabs or junk. You can hit the beaches real early in the morning (like around 5:30 am) before they groom the beaches but only after a real busy day.

Your best bet is in the water.

I was in the water the other day and found some good stuff.......and the lifeguard said that almost no one is on the dry sand any more because they are finding almost nothing. All the rings and coins are being swept up every day by the state or city.

The other problem is sanding of the beaches. Florida is now dumping tons and tons of sand on the most popular beaches.

You could try the treasure coast....but they have sanded those beaches too so finding stuff will be few and far between.

The other problem is the economy. Not many visitors on the beaches of late and less people means less stuff to find.

Maybe with the economy the way it is, Florida will stop sanding the beaches and the beaches will revert to being good places to find old stuff again.

wow, well went to beach on east coast yesterday here in Fla , lots of people on beach,
i got there about 3;30 or so after being there and started to hunt i looked up and saw
a total of 13 other detectors probing the dry sand as well as a few guys in the water,
Ive not seen this many people hunting on this beach before, I'm not sure what everybody found,
i dud meet a fellow named nick who was using a Excalibur 2 as i was, he was picking up a few scraps
as i was, my totals was
6 pull tabs
5 caps
1 hair beret
11 pennies
4 nickels
5 dimes
so i guess not bad with everybody out there hunting
but the beach was packed with people too...
