FL Beach/Water Hunting

I will be heading to the Atlantic coast in FL over spring break and would like to know if you can or cannot metal detect in the water. I have heard that you cannot do this, or it is against the law. Can you detect while wading (waist deep) in the water?

Technically the law says no. But on most beaches you can get away with it. If your at a National Park beach just keep an eye out for the rangers, some are nice guys but others can be nasty. Oh and stay out of the dunes, thier protected in most places.

Happy Hunting!
