Five little Indian's

Mark in S.E. IA

today I started working a new yard and it's a big one. I was only able to work about a 1/3 of the yard today because of the on and off rain showers that we were having. After the fourth rain shower I said that's it, I'm going home. So far it's been fun MD'ing this yard because their is very little trash and I have found more IH's then I have wheat's. I don't run in to that very often. The date's on the IH's are 1898, 1899, 1901, 2 x 1903, "3" wheat's, the oldest is 1911 and 4 organ reeds. I think that's the most reeds that I have ever found in one yard.

I was using the X-505, 10.5 DD 7.5 coil, Sens at 19, GB at 33 and all of the IH's were about 8" deep.

First off, nice finds with the IH cents. IH cents are among my favorite coins to dig. Congrats on some nice ones!!! And thanks for mentioning organ reeds. You know, I've been hunting for nearly 38 years and have found more of those things than I care to count. Until now, I never knew for sure what they were. After reading your post and looking them up online, I now know what it is I've been digging. Thanks again. HH Randy

Nice bunch of IH's you have there.... Looks like a very good site.
Hopefully the rain won't mess you up next hunt, but even at that, you did find some goodies.
Keep us posted,
Felix

Hey Randy, Them IH's are one of my favorite coins to find also. Everytime I find one it puts a big ole smile on my face.:)

yep injuns are my favorite coin, if I find just ONE I am smiling big time, I only have 18 this year so far, don't come across them to much. Hope this year to get a few in the fields when crops come off though, I have dug a ton of those organ reeds, everyone of them goes right into my brass scrap barrel...lol

oh almost forgot....sweet finds! if I found five injuns in one day, that would be a dream day

Bet you can't wait to get back to finish the yard
Jeff

I went back today and finished the yard and I found 1 more Injun. a 1897, 1 wheat and 3 more organ reeds. Years ago they must of had a Parlor Organ in that house.

I was reading where the 305/505 have multi-tone, does a gold ring sound different than a pulltab? If so, that is good. HH John

John, I haven't played much with the multi-tones. The 4 tones on the x-505 are a little different then they were on the x-50 and I'm still tring to get use to that.
After I get use to the new sounds of the tones on the x-505 I plan on playing a little more with the multi-tones. I'll have to do a test with the gold rings and tabs and see if their is a difference in sound. That sure would be nice if their was.
