What kind of performance could be expected with depth and target separation. The hunters who have used this coil their overall opinion of how effective this coil is for coin-shooting. Ron

And I love it for extremely trashy locations. Go slow with it, and really overlap your swings, as you'll easily miss something with it if you're careless. This coil is also good for getting where the 8" is to big, in-between roots of large trees, under playground equipment (I like to crawl around under the bigger pieces, and stay on my knees the whole time under there), under brush, etc.

I've recovered clad quarters at 8" in woodchips, and coins down to 6" in the iron-rich ground up here in southern MI.

If you get one, do yourself a favor, and buy an extra middle- and lower-stem extension. Mate the two together, and mount the coil on it, using velcro wraps (extras should be available at a MD dealer, but a computer store will have them as well, where they sell extra computer cables). This way, all you have to do to switch coils is unplug the coil from your control-box, detach that middle-stem extension, then attach the new one with the 5" coil, and plug that coil in.

Always re-ground-balance after you switch coils, even if you're at the same site. Different size coils see different quantities or dirt, and also different quantities of ground minerals.

Don't forget with the smaller coil your eliminating a lot of weight and under most conditions can raise the sensitivity for even better depth....

the small coil is great and has great depth vey sesative and locks on targets
