got my new (used) explorer in the mail the other day and finally got out to play with it. I didnt read the book first (big mistake) though managed to figure out what it was doing after a about 30 minutes (I was trying to hunt in learn mode for a while). I hunted in the side yard at my house (3 acre yard, 100 years+ metal stuff). I got the signal I was looking for and have been reading about, the high repeated tone, and found a watch fob at about 5 inches. The fob reads (Binder Twine Star, H A brand rope" on the front. I havent cleaned it yet and cant make out the back (sorry about the photo quality). I also found what I believe is the ceramic top to an old beer bottle in the plug (reads A. Krumenaker 512 W. 166th St. N.Y on top). I cant find anything on the internet about either one of these items though I assume they are old. The rain came and chased me back inside. Not a bad first target. Tommorow I'm off to the coin garden at the back of the yard for a while then out to some old rental houses to hunt. I also did pretty good pinpointing, I did read up on that before I started swinging. Looks like I got a bunch of learning to do with the new machine. I like the tones on the EX though it does seem a little heavy, though not any heavier than the eagle spectrum I owned at one time. I cant make any comments YET about the depth of the EX versus the whites machines I've owned. Should be an interesting summer:detecting:
