My best friend Brent kidnapped me and made me go fishing at a reservoir way south of here in the desert. A very dry place but a lake that is 5 miles long and full of fish. Our mission was to catch perch for fillets and fish tacos. This lake has small mouth, perch, sturgeon, catfish, crappie, trout, bluegill, and others. It all depends on where on the lake you fish. We launched the boat by the dam and headed up the channel of the Bruneau River. The main lake is the Snake River. We went up this narrow channel to the flat where the perch waited.

This is not the kind of fishing that Elson does in the swamps. This is a dry place with rattlers and volcanic basalt cliffs. It does have a nice scenery, in a desolate kinda way.

Up ahead of us was the spot where the perch waited. You can see some other boats already at the place we were heading. When we got there another friend of mine was fishing and they had not caught a darn thing.

We fished for a while at that spot and the fish were not there at all. I told Brent we should putt around and watch the fish finder until we found fish. Now that is thinkin' Duh. We ended up at the water in the far left corner of this photo and boy did we find them!

I got so busy catching one every cast that I forgot to take any fish pictures, but if you have seen one perch you have seen them all. I thought you all might be more interested in the area anyway.
After we loaded up the live wells we had lunch at the Bar and Grill by the Dam and headed home. A fun day on the water, even though Brent forgot to put the bilge plug in and we darn near sank before we could find it and put in while we were in the middle of the lake. And, the bilge pump did not work so we got the boat on plane and took the plug out to drain. I am sure some of you know the drill.
The next day I decided to do a little water hunting before work. I was in a hurry and the finds few and far between, I did manage this silver ring.

It is pretty and .925 is always welcome. I did make a funny find, a bilge plug out of a boat. I'm going to make a necklace out of it for Brent.
SOOOO, that is how spent my birthday. I did leave out helping another friend load up scrap lead and going out to dinner with my darling wife. All and all, I did have a good one! DC

Happy Birthday@!

.... my fishing buddy was laughing his butt off at me while loudly singing "We All Live On A Yellow Submarine". Them boats operate rather lathargic when about half full of water, huh?

Glad you had a fun day Dave.
