Fishers new F75 LTD Limited Edition

Mr.Bill

New member
The new Fisher F75 LTD is a regular F75 on, (If I can coin the statement) steroids.

Fisher engineers have come across a new faster processor that they installed into the F75 platform. They added new "Code", a "Boost" mode, and a "Cache" mode. Must we not forget the "Camo" coloring.

Will it be a hit, it sure will, but it's not going to be to everyone delight either. If your a hunter that detects trashy sites, nasty tot lots, or city parks, this may not be your cup of tea. If your the type that complains about not receiving maximum stability, you won't care for this one.

On the other hand your one who hunts fields, beach's, woods, and likes operating balls to the wall with full power, this ones for you. There will be a noticeable difference in targeted depth ranges. The boost increase is quite apparent.

On the EMI subject: It's the same as the regular F75, Of course as with any detector one increases the sensitivity with, one increases the chance of interference. I certainly have had my share of F75's, and I can truthfully say EMI has not been a problem, no more than any other detector. I feel it's less, at least it is from my type of hunting. I have radar sites all around me. I do believe the early on complaints about EMI were caused by bad coils. This has been corrected by Fisher Engineering Department. I haven't had any customer remarks about it in some time. I'm sure that there is a few out there floating around that still have flunky coils on them, and the operators have no idea.

Well so much for that. I'm sure the detectorest that can appreciate raw power, will be as happy as a hog in deep do do.

I have them on order.

Mr Bill, does anyone know, or can pass along, what the average depth increase over the current F 75 is? I realize this will vary some from ground to ground, but an average, from wherever. Many of us F 75 users hunt those trashy spots you mention with no problems. In fact, its fast response is a major factor for our being able to sniff out the goodies from among the trash. Dis-regarding the "camo" color, as a coinshooter, I haven't seen a negetive, yet. Thanks, HH jim tn

Hmmm, I primarily use the F75 because of it's ability to pick goodies in trashy sites with low discrimination. I would think that THAT ability has not been compromised.

Mr. Bill, have you seen any downside to the "Boost" mode vs running in the "De" mode?

hey bill!
i hunt city parks with it,and do allright as do many others!..just curious why you would make such a statement as that!..a lot of sites have an abundance of trash in them, and it is unavoidable,as many "old" and productive sites are still heavily used by the public at large!..after all,it's a terrific coin hunter too!

hunting in trashy areas harder to deal with. One can used the LTD in any location one can use the standard F75 in. You will need to keep in mind the limitations of running high power.

I don't care how successful one can be with the F75 in a trashy park, adding more sensitivity to it does not enhance your results of finding good targets. The trashier the area, the less sensitivity one needs.

The F75 LTD was designed for open area, deep hunting. If you have success using it in a different environment, all the more power to ya. Don't misunderstand me, first it's still a F75, and does all the things a standard F75 can do. They boosted the processor speed and added a couple of new programs that can be used.

Tom Dankowski doesn't seem to agree....

they designed the 75 to be both a coin shooter,AND a relic hunter to be used in all environments, which explains the many features and adjustments on the detector!

Would it not be the case that the new faster processor would give some increase in performance even without using the boost features such as even faster recovery time??

Maybe not. If you're like me, the faster processers available for home computers do me no good working in Word, Excel, writing email and searching the web. If I ever edit videos, then I'll see an improvement.

Keep in mind the advertisement doesn't actually say it's a "faster" processor, it says it's a more "powerful" processor. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a faster clock speed, it could mean many things - 64 bit vs 32 bit, larger memory pipeline, etc. Apparently the "boost" mode is slowing down the CPU and taking more samples.

It may well be similar to what they did with the SL (slow) mode on the F70 (which decelerates the CPU to take more samples), but obviously there's more to it, as the LTD machines are reportedly getting much more depth, and I haven't seen that the F70 SL mode equates to substantial depth gains (YMMV).
