Fisher warranty qualification

How does Fisher qualify their warranties for repairs? I just bought a slightly used F70 with the original bill of sale included. Will I be able to take advantage of the warranty if I need to? Thanks for any thoughts..

Fisher warranties are qualified by sending a copy of the original purchase receipt(dated) in your name if repairs are needed..You have a purchase receipt in the name of the fellow you bought it from so indeed your unit is not warranted. Buying used can save you money but one wonders what a five year warranty is worth ought to cover it..

no!..warranty to "original" purchaser only!.."not " transferrable!

I reckon I'm one of those that feels the instrument should be warranted - not the person who buys it.
It is what they are supposedly standing behind, after all.
Fortunately, the folks at New Fisher are not deaf to this concept. They try to work with you, at least in my experience.

Sadly, the current warranty leaves a loop hole for them to duck into - should they choose..

the main reason is that it gets expensive real fast fixing detectors that are on a second, and third owner!..with the cost of parts and labor being what they are, they don't want to be liable!.

Again, I agree.
Yet a detector that is good enough to warrant for 5 years ought to be just that - good. If it is coming back for repairs over and over, then there are issues outside of who owns it.

I suspect it is as much to do with getting people to buy new units, as opposed to choosing used.

I will have a bit of commentary about this matter as it pertains to the New Fisher, soon. The die are thrown, as of now - when they settle I anticipate something good to report. So, watch this space!

there is very little argument that the 5 year warranty IS a marketing "tool!",,and a very effective one too!
