Fisher Special Addition Gold Bug

So, all this hype and long wait for a Fisher Gold Bug Pro and I see Kellyco now has it listed as a Special Addition Gold Bug! Is this the exact same unit that been sold at Cabellos for the last few months? IS there not a Gold Bug Pro coming out? Anyone know? Should I just buy the Special Addition Gold bug from Cabellos?

I would consider myself an expert with the Gold Bug II.

The Gold Pro I just looked at over on the kellyco site is a completely different machine. For starters the Pro has a digital readout, and the Gold Bug II doesn't. The GB II has a double D elliptical coil, is manual ground balanced and tuned. It

I'll be dang, it sure does look like the same machine. Here's a quoted review I found posted over on the cabela's site:

I would be very leery of that machine. And it has been my experience with the FT GBII that the coils all suck. BTW the GBII coil is a CONCENTRIC coil not DD

Will there be a machine called the Gold Bug Pro? That is the question? If so, how will this differ, if at all, from what Cabelas or Kellyco is selliing. Anyone have an inside scoop on this confusing situation?

I looked over at Kelly Co's site yesterday and they did not have a GBII Pro listed, they did have the special edition.

I just went back and looked again and they have what they are calling the GBII Pro. The only difference between the regular GBII and the GBII Pro that I can see is that you get 2 coils instead on 1. You get the 6" and the 10". I think we got suckered, go take a look.

Edit:
I just looked at the machines again. And the machine that was called the Gold Bug II Special Edition yesterday, today it is called the, "Gold Bug Special Edition". I do think they took out the Gold Bug II part.

Oh yeah, thanks for correcting me on the Coil, my mistake.

Well, I think Kellyco has messed up here. How can they call the old Gold Bug 2, GOLD BUG 2 PRO by selling it with two coils. But if you by the Gold Bug 2 with one coil, the name stays the same? Is the GOLD BUG 2 PRO different from the Gold Bug 2? If I buy the second coil, does mine now become a Pro? I take it there really is no Gold Bug Pro withe th LCD screen, just the special addition. This really discredits Fisher.

When you compare metal detectors on Kellyco, they list the new Gold Bug as Pro, but when you click on the new Gold Bug as you would if you were to purchase, its listed as Special Addition and the the Old Gold Bug Pro on teh cpmarison chart is no loinger listed as the Pro

I, for one, would NEVER buy anything from Kellyco. They have been dishonest and misleading in their dealings for years. Go and talk to a real, authorized Fisher dealer and find out face to face whats what and then buy from him. If it's not what it's supposed to be, a good dealer will make it right.

Digger Bob

I just would hate to seethe season up here fly by, when I could be out metal detecting. Instead, I am waiting on this phantom Dealer model to come out. I want to both hunt for grain gold, but also do coin and jewelry when I am away from the Gold Fields which is 90% of the time.

Looks that way to me Dwayne. I think I'll order the 6" coil and become a Pro, NOT.

HH and good luck

(Quote)This just in from Fisher:

"This Gold Bug Special Edition will be shipping in the next few weeks. We originally advertised the introduction of this unit as the Gold Bug Pro

IMHO if you want to find small gold the best multi use machine is the GBII. But it takes about 7 months or more to learn. The GBII as a multi use machine will rip it up at demo sites and playgrounds, not good for turf hunting. It is a much faster machine, you can dig more targets and cover more ground than most machines, and it finds small gold, chains and bracelets that no other machines will.
Just keeping it real.
HH and good luck.

I agree to a point. I think the GB II is one of the best VLF machines in moderate to low mineralization, particularly on small gold. Also great on micro-gold jewlery.
