Fisher Repair Question. . .

I've got a CZ-20 I bought off a guy, so needless to say the warranty probably isn't good now. I had it for almost 7 months and the Pinpoint Problem happened, at least so I understand from other's accounts of the problem. Sounds like all of my discrimination shifted to the right, so now trash sounds like high coins, etc. I bought an Excal, and have been using it happily since, but would like to get my 20 fixed to either sell it or go back to using it part time. Has anyone that had this problem got it fixed, and can give me a price estimate? I paid $550 for it to begin with, I don't feel like paying another $500 to get it running and have a $1k detector that I can't sell for that price if I'd like to. Any response on this would be much appreciated!

take two,and hit to right!..they are not gonna fix that unless it is worth their while!..just the way it is!..businesses are NOT in business to give any one a break!..they are in business to make money!..period!..these days nobody rides for free anymore!..too costly!

You can send it in to Fisher and have them assess it so you really know what the problem is and then decide if you want it repaired. They don't do any work on it without calling you and discussing the problems with the machine. Who knows, may be something other than the pinpoint thing.
Good Luck,
Glenn

If you send it in and do not get it fixed you will be out the money to ship it plus 25.00 to get it back. That is all I am going to say here. Look at the feedack section of this site.

You might want to contact Keith Wills at brokendetector.com who has been highly recommended.

Sry to say, THIS is why a used detector is not worth $500.
And I am indifferent as to what brand it is.

And imagine the can supply you with needed info..Seems like that pinpoint button is problematic on that model and have heard good and bad relative its repair and cost..

Managed to pry the coil cover off, and so far as I can tell it seems to have been a bunch of highly mineralized sand. Took it out today and found $1.32 dry sanding without concentrating on it, so I'm hoping it was just that. I'm going to be extra cautious if I even take it back in the water, and I might spread a little layer of silicone over the plate just in case. Hopefully, though, it was just my being a bad maintenance person and not cleaning up my coil.

That is great news for you. Hopefully that is all it was and good luck. They really are supurb units when working!!

Hey W.S. : Here is another suggestion for you to do. Go to Pep Boys or Advanve Auto and get you a can of black spray on bed liner. Put two coats on it and leave the coil cover home. It works and looks great. See you at the beach.....

I just read that on your post of Jim's on Treasure Depot, and while I would like to, I think I'm goin gto have to sell this one since it's working, I just bought a new MXT and I'm going to have to sell it to balance out the cash so my wife doesnt get angry!!

Also, you ever hear any news on that beach we talked about?

Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!

Angry wife is not a good thing...

Much as a disturbed beehive, they tend to spread the pain around, instead of keeping the problem local.
