Fisher LF 990 D anyone use one?

Boston Metal

New member
When my Uncle found out I have been bitten by the MD bug he pulled a fisher LF 990 D out of his closet and offered it to me. Seems to work just fine actually. I am wondering if anyone has used one, has any tips for me or has a manual that might scan for me.

Besides dirt digging I have beaches nearby, can this unit handle wet Northeast coast sand?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Frank

I have used it and still have one, have to look around for the manual but I'm pretty sure I still have it. It was top of line for the 900 series detector back in the late 70's. best tip I can give is to do a good ground comp adj on it, thresold sound sould just able to hear and meter should read about 4.5. If DISC. mode is hard to use cause of gound minerals then search in ALL METALS mode and use REVERSE DISC on targets, works real good. If you don't know how to do it let me know and I'll send you instructions.

Hay Boston, I take it you don't want any info on that LF 990, Never heard back from you.
