Fisher Impulse

Hey all.I know this is the CZ page, but I am considering purchasing a used Impulse with the 10.5''coil It will be used for shallow salt water beach hunting. This will be a whole new learning curve,I have never used a P.I. unit before.I also know I will be digging more iron/steel junk.(I know about the magnet in the scoop trick) To those who have experience with this machine, what are some of the pros/cons of it? I used to use a CZ20 with the 8'' coil in the surf, but my results were never great.I had better luck beach/relic hunting with the CZ20. Thanks.

The threshold will keep changing in the salt water as the water level goes up or down.
A wave will also raise the threshold. You should run it with a slight threshold but it's
tough in the water. Need a hand for your detector, one for your scoop and one on the
tuning knob. Great machine on the beach, dry or wet sand. Will pick up things that are
very small. I hear it's great in deeper water where the wave action doesn't affect it.
I only used mine in shallow water and the tuning thing was an issue with me.
That's my 2 cents worth. I had one with a 10 1/2" coil just like you're looking at.
I had better luck with my CZ20 with 10 1/2" coil myself. Good hunting to you !
