Fisher ID OC and NC factory preset question

Took my newly arrived ID Edge for a test walk in the park and nearby ball field. Found clad quickly on volleyball court, and more clad over by the ball field under a tree. Dimes, qtrs clads and a nickel. It was nice, pulled up the clad and did not have to dig junk or zinc pennies.

On the factory preset for old coins and new coins I see these reading in an air test.

FP clad qtr large old cent wheat zinc penny indian head

OC 34 36 28 21 20
NC 34 36 28 22 20

So I don't seem much difference in these two presets, am I missing something? (likely since I have only used a gold bug for gold and no experience with ID Edge.

the large old cent was 1800's and just a bit larger than the clad qtr.

What settings does any suggest, since I am mostly interested in finding old coins in an area that has two moonshine stills and several old homesteads and outbuildings foundations that I really don't think have been hunted (but it is only a guess, no way really to know for sure, but this is secluded private property that I have permission to hunt. The soil is rich wooded soil or sandy field soil and some ga red clay in places.

Would I use the same settings for the woods, fields and streams and river?

Hi John

The factory preset programs are designed to eliminate some modern trash while picking up desired targets. There is no performance difference as to depth or ID between the programs. OC expands the accepted range to allow some of the older coins that tend to hit with lower ID's to be heard.

For old site hunting I recommend using cP mode with nothing notched out and dig it all. There are many desireable targets other than coins at older sites!

one of the diff. in the two modes is in old coin mode you can still find gold coins as thay will hit lower in the range
you can check in your manual for the numers one will hit and reject and except hope this helps
