anyone use this unit at the beach in wet sand? when i go detecting at the coast gold is what iam after.

u2 robert, the Gold Bug 2 should work OK in the dry sand for micro jewelry, but in the wet salt sand and especially blacksand, the little fellow will get caniptions and squeal in pain.:nopity:
This is because of it's ultra high 71khz operating frequency, stellar on fly poop size gold in low mineralization but with a compromise on depth.
You would be far better of with a Fisher CZ or a Minelab Excaliber/Sovereign with their lower frequencies for the beach, as they are the most popular VLF beach machines... they handle mineralization extremely well and are depth monsters. A used CZ can be found cheaper than the Gold Bug 2 as well.

I am going to Arizona for a couple months, down around Quartzsite,AZ & was thinking about getting a Gold Bug to look for some type of gold, nuggets, flakes, etc, would you suggest this, as best or would another detector be better/ Thanks Jim
