Hi All

anyone used the new Fisher Gold Bug DP Metal Detector ? any field notes would be of help!

mine is on its way and its sounds great and am excited to go out hunting, try the beach and parks to get used to it then off out bush to find some nuggets hopefully!

so any help before its arrival would be super great!

thanks heaps

Gary

You will have to do a little searching though. Remember the Teknetics G2 is the same machine so read that info to.
HH! Your gonna love it

Don't hesitate to ask questions. There are some very knowledgable people on this forum that can help you. I have a G-2 which is similar to your machine. I think you will be very happy with the GB/DP. HH :teknetics::minelab:

hi hershey1
thanks for the warm welcome!
from everything i have been reading about the G-2 reports are good so cant wait now to get out there and have a look around :detecting:

how would this machine compare with say a minelab 705?

i was going to get the minelab then went with the GB /DP it just seemed to be a bit better at sorting junk?

thanks heaps for the help and hope i may be able to add a little bit when i get up and running.

Gary

I have both the Gold Bug and the G2. Yes, they are both excellent machines in iron infested areas, but they can't compare to the Xterra 705 for raw depth, at least I have not dug anything using them as deep as my Xterra. They are better at seperation and target masking........MO

thanks for the info it is all appreciated !

guess we cant have everything but will look into a minelab once i get the hang of this one and see if i need it or want it, was thinking about getting a gp 3500 or gpx 4500 to go gold hunting but its a lot of money so time will tell if i get the bug or not, well i am getting the bug aren't I :detecting:

Take a lot of nuggies to pay for a "super detector" (GPX 4500)---won't take NEAR as many nuggies to pay for a GBSE/G2!! --DUH :)-----I had a 4500 some time back & got rid of it.----For the gold hunting I'm going to do, my great little G2 will do JUST FINE!----Big benefit is that the GBSE or G2 does great on relics/coins also. ----------Del

Hi Del

i am going to have a look with the bug it says it will find sub grammes i am in Australia :ausflag: so maybe the ground is to hot but i haven't used the bug so i cant say if it will work but i sure will have a go:detecting:

time will tell and who knows might pick up the ones the "big" detectors miss ?

yep off to the beach and see how i do :clapping: $2 coins here so they would add up i would say they are really small to and heavy so once they get dropped there gone! that's the plan but who knows! i live in a pretty big place 300 000 people all beach and mountains only a few miles from the sea beautiful place really.

i want to go to my grand mums old home site up the bush see what i can dig up the bug should do well there!

so cant wait to get out there lots of spots in my head and plenty of time sounds like a good life to me!! :clapping:

amberjack-----Man that sounds goood!---Ya got me "droolin", talkin about all those great sounding hunting areas.----I always wanted to gold hunt Australia but never made it.---At 72, I guess I'm too old to think about it now but I SURE like hearing about it.  ---------Del

hey Del

got me excited too 1500 Miles of beach and that's just in my state i will be tired by the end of it :detecting: got to love those $1 and $2 coins Goldie's we call them as there are gold coloured but made of copper and nickel so the should show up good! :clapping:
wonder how many are out there!

then its west to look for gold am sure i know a few spots there could be some little ones to collect, i remember when i was a kid we went seen a 2nd cousin he was old then to me lived in this little shack showed us some bullet holes in there where someone shot at him then come out with a big hand full of nuggets will never forget that! it was just an old timber shack no electricity and an old mattress on the floor he sure was roughing it. but from what my Dad told me he left there and brought a house and lived out the rest of his life in comfort, so maybe he left some for me :surprised:

and whats even more funny is every one i talk to says only alluvial stuff there no nuggets and he didn't have a metal detector this would be 35 years ago i would say! had the bug sense then and now only starting to something about it, so might be worth a try where he was? think i have it pretty much pinned down after asking my dad about where it was he is about your age little older want to get him to just come with me have a little look, but if he doesn't will try by myself.

i just turned 45 and thought i best do something now about my childhood dream :detecting:

better go sleep i guess late here or early i should say!

hope i have some of my own story's to tell one day :clapping:
