Fisher F75 SE vs. F75 ltd2 ?

New member
Hiya guys
New member of this forum. Coin and relic hunter the last 40 years. Currently I own 5 detectors.
1) Fisher CZ6A (#1 choice)
2)Fisher CZ-20 (love H2O huntn)
3)Fisher Gold Bug 2 (I'm new to nuggets)
4)Whites XLT (old favorite)

5)FISHER F75 Special Edition. (My newest)
I just bought this sleek black machine several days ago from a newbie who had never swung a detector at all. He purchased it via Kellyco mail order last July. After using it 2 or 3 times, frustration was his reason for selling. Needless to say i got a great deal. As you would expect the machine is like brand new no marks or scratches. The only indication he ever hunted was dirt on the trowel he thru in.

OK (finally) my question ... this machine has the FA & CL process and DST, how does this machine compare with the newest F75 ltd2 ?

I have read many articles on the forums and watched countless YouTube videos on this machine but does anyone know of a printed handbook. like you see for many other machines?

Also the setting knob has a push-button feature too but it doesn't seem to do much. Does anyone know if there is a funtional here that I couldn't find in the manual?

I believe I had the LTD2 upgrade when I sent my F75 in. The push button function you mentioned sounds like the switch between DE mode and your selected mode. Since I had the old gold handled machine with no BP I can say a few things. One it is quieter, which means more finds. It does not appear as deep with the upgrade, but has no problem going deep. I have hot ground so 12 inches is a stretch. But I have dug deeper. If I am incorrect I hope someone can correct me. There is a lot going on with the F75. Probably the reason for all the new F series detectors. The F75 was just too complicated, and nosiy lol.

Welcome to the forum beeperboy. It sounds like you have the new F75 ltd2 . Great machine. I think you will like it a lot. I would say call Fisher Lab and you may be able to get them to send you a manual. GL , GS

Welcome to the forum!

When you turn it on it should flash some numbers on the screen which is the date of the software version. I believe anything after November 2014 should be good to go (November versions of that year had some issues I believe which were corrected by Fisher). Anyway, no two machines of any type are usually exactly alike, but I doubt you would see much difference in performance - good or bad - between yours and one fresh out of Fisher's doors unless there was a major problem.

Here is the link to the downloadable/printable handbook for the F75 with DST: Link to Manual.

Good luck HH!

Ok thanks for the replies. The numbers that flash, I thought was my serial# for the machine. Although the first 6 digits could be a date.

Yes, the first 6 digits are the date of the software version. If it's June 2014 I don't believe it has DST (I think November of that year was the first DST version).

When you do a factory reset (push and hold the red button down while pushing and holding the trigger forward while you turn the machine on as described on page 16 of the manual), if it has DST it will show 9.0 on the screen.

Yes it's June 15 2014. But it does have DSL there is the 9.0 at start up after reset. There is a sticker on the box as well. If the SE model was like the first LTD? Then whats the upgrade on the LTD2?

According to the manual, the push button has this function: When you are in BP mode and you push that button, it will go to FE mode as long as the button is depressed, and when released it will go back to the BP mode. This will only work when you are in the BP mode and no other mode. It's a way of going quickly from BP to FE to get additional info on the target. As far as I can see, nothing on the display changes to indicate that you have pushed that button.

I have a F-75 LTD SE (pre-upgrade) and I really enjoy using it.

If you take the time to learn to correctly set it up it will detect deeper than any other detector out there.
Setting it up is the key ... it is not easy and does take effort to learn.

If it has FA and DST it is the latest edition release. does it have the 9.0 and 9.1 or what ever they are ( LOL) settings ..Sounds like you may have gotten a great deal if the Price was right.

What does it matter what you call it? If its DST its DST... you will love this thing if you take the time to learn it. Good luck.

I know in years past when a new advanced model detector came out, it wasn't long till some detector guru out wrote a book on how to tune it properly. I have one for my CZ-6 that Andy Sabich wrote. Has anyone produced a handbook like that for the F-75?

IF you have an un upgraded 75 use it Before you send it in and have it castrated.

Are you saying the older version has some performance advantages over the newer DST versions?
Could you expand on that a bit?
I was thinking of having my F-75 LTD upgraded but missed the window for that so it is a stock unit.
