Fisher F70 Default Threshold

I received my F-70 today and while I was learning the controls I noticed the Threshold defaults to -3. According to manual the default threshold setting should be "0"
I did the software reset by pushing Menu + Ground Grab while turning the detector on & 88 appeared in the display. I assume the reset was performed accordingly. However, when I checked the default setting the Threshold is still at -3. Could this indicate a software glitch? Are there any other F-70's out there doing the same thing?
Any feedback would be appreciated. The F-70 was perfect while doing some simple air tests inside but was very unstable the first time outside in my yard. I have seen this before in some other very sensitive detectors so I am not worried yet. I am thinking that I am just going to have to learn the controls and find out how to tame the beast.

Leo,

mine defaults to a -3 as well. I would say this is a typo in the owners manual. A threshold of zero would not be a good default value at all.

You are right, these F70s are very sensitive and if set too high indoors or out they will be very unstable at best.

Best of luck with the new F70.

mine does the same as yours....to me it is one hard detector to get used to ...but I will keep trying!

If you watch the You Tube video on the F-70 his machine defaults to "0" like is described in the manual. However, if you watch the video carefully when the operator turns his F-70 on the two small blocks do not appear in the upper left and right corners indicating that he may not have the latest software upgrade. Thoughts?

I am still puzzled why some F-70's thresholds default to -3 and some at 0 Maybe one of the Fisher guys will stumble onto this forum and offer an explanation.
I am sure many who read this post may think something like this is trivial; however, it may indicate a software glitch that Fisher may want to take a look.

I bought the F70's for both my wife & I and they are the newer ones that have the software upgrade.--They both reset at -3, I had noticed that but didn't think much of it till you guys mentioned it.--That's interesting-do you think the first ones had the "0" reset and then when they did the software upgrade, they changed them to -3? (as well as the newer ones comeing out at -3)
