Fisher F70 and EMI

I took my F70 and my CoinStrike out to the field again today. There is one huge corner of the field where the F70 will not work at all because the numbers just start flashing all over. I lowered the sens. to 1 and even tried reset and made no difference at all. I can move to the other side of the field and it works fine. The CoinStrike is only 11 months old and still like new. It works perfectly all over. The F70 is just like brand new with the upgrades. I'm seriously thinking about trading my F70 for another Coinstrike with 8 and 5" coils to use for backup.
There is no power lines anywhere close because I'm out in the middle of no where so I don't understand what is going on.

Does anybody have any idea what is going on? It does it in about a 200 sq. ft. area of the field. As soon as you get out of that spot it settles right down and works normal. The Coinstrike and other detectors have never had this problem in this field. Also there seems to be no way to hunt this area with the F70.

Unfortunately with new technology comes more powerful units that are subject to noise from the ground itself..Years ago had a unit that measured the ground and from one end of a football field to the other the mineralization number changed 4 times so you just encountered the give and takeaways of detectors as with increased power comes areas you are not able to hunt.

I also tried changing freq. I have just accepted not being able to use the F70 there. At least the Coinstrike doesn't give any problems there. Thank goodness I have a detector that will work. This field has produced several CW items there and it still needs to be hunted alot.

Is there a tower in the area maybe you can see it and maybe you can not...???

I was hunting by a lake one time, one guy was using a CZ 6a 8" coil,,,,another was using the X-50 with stock coil 7.5 freq.,,,I was using a X-70 with the 18 freq coil.
The X-70 was crazy, I had the CZ and the X-50 turned off, the X-70 was still acting crazy. I tried all kinds of settings, nothing helped.
I went hunting on down the beach and about 1/4 of a mile from where the X-70 was acting up, it quit acting up, in about 3 hrs when we came back, to the same spot, the X-70 did not act up any more.

The F-70 has a higher Freq than the Coin Strike, maybe that was what your problem was.
Just a thought.

I'm hunting in the middle of about 250 acres of crop fields. No houses, no power lines, no towers, nothing around that you would think would cause interference. That's what is so strange. I honestly don't think I'll ever figure it out. That's ok as long as the Coinstrike works. That is the only spot on 3 different adjoining farms where the F70 acts up. It's just one of those things you can't explain I guess. Thank you guys for trying to help me figure it out.

Do you have friends in the area with metal detectors?
I would be interested in seeing if the MXT or the Garrett machines have the same problems.

We can figure this out!

Ground issues.
1. Check to see if the ground balance value(Ground Phase) in this area is significantly different than the other areas.
2. Look at your Dirt value, is it very different than surrounding areas?
3. If you dig a hole does the dirt look different? Any signs of things like charcoal, red brick, coal cinders or slag? A high gravel content, or is it discolored by a red clay mix or gray mix? Is it a depression compared to the surrounding area where fertilizer run off may be accumulating?

Interference
1. Does raising the coil to hip height while parallel to the ground have any effect?
2. If yes, raise coil and point it at the horizon while turning in a circle. Does interference go up or down as you turn?
3. Are you using a cell phone? Turn it off while in this area.
4. Look at the horizon, see any radio or cell phone towers?
