i recently got my F5 wet and now the pin point, notch and tones buttons do not work,
i have used hair dryer and stored in warm place to dry it out,but week later still nothing?
how does one get into the control box to check it out?

Once you get it working I would recommend getting a rain cover for it. There is a guy who sells them on e-bay. You have to modify it by cutting holes in the plastic front for the knobs but it fits great. Do a search on F4 rain covers to find the auction. Here is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/Fisher-F2-F4-Rain-Cover-metal-detector-/220626395151?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item335e5ba00f#ht_500wt_711

Your going to have to send it away to Fisher to be fixed. I'd not want to take a $500.00 unit apart in the fear of breaking it.

I agree send it to Fisher for repair. If they do not cover it under warranty it should not cost to much to get it fixed.

Bit worrying - how wet did it get?

Don't take it apart though - any warranty will be lost .. just send the machine back for repair.

I cover mine with a clear sandwich bag when it rains .. you can see the screen and it is loose enough to be able to twiddle the knobs ... and they are really cheap!

hi, it took a bit of rain in,everything else works just the tone notch n pinpoint? nap im sure i met you at a cc dig in northampton a few yrs back?????????

Does sound like there may be water trapped between the pads and the buttons they press on - but it could be circuitry- what a shame! Pentechnics are the authorised repair folk in the UK, they have all the spares and so on - and Joan Allen the authorised dealer of course.

Yes, the same Nap - I was living in France and visiting when I came back then lived in Cambridge a while so was able again to go to the fab CS digs - but am down in Bristol now and it is just tooo far for me, though I did see folk at the Wanderers rally, which was verr nice.

And you are well? I see that we both gravitated to the F5!

hi I'm OK, yes i have f5 and a safari, think i had a garret when i saw you?am sending the f5 to pentechnics to get fixed now
