Fisher f4 compared to Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300

I was just checking out on the fisher F 4 metal detector and then went and did some research on the Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 . Wow they look the same, but have different names. Could they be the same?

They're not - I have them both. Same case very different machine.

Sadly they use many of the same parts

First, I'm not sure "sadly" would be the right word. I'm curious though because it sounds like you know something I don't. Which parts?? ... the coils, poles, grip, LCD, and UI are all outwardly different. The only thing I "see" the same is the case...

I've been interested in silent masking after reading Dankowski's articles, so I've been playing around in the test garden... it becomes clear very quickly that the F4 processor is faster ... way faster. That doesn't leave much to be the same, when it's a single board system.

Maybe they both use the same manufacturer for battery contacts, resistors, and headset jack (must be trash!!) ;)

It's not even a contest really. The F4 has the same depth (assuming the same size coil). BUT, it's at LEAST twice as fast which accompanied with the 11" DD makes it a really easy to use system in bad soil or trashy areas. If you grab the bounty hunter 4.5" coil for it off of ebay then you'll have a very good machine with three very different coils.

The F4 was easier to get a feel for because it has more "steps" in the pinpoint sound range and it adjusts volume a bit depending on signal strength in discriminate mode.

The bad thing about both is that you spend all of your clad money on batteries. 9V's are pricey and the F4 hates low batteries.

ive had both and the f-4 is way more refined, faster, feels more solid, nicer touchpad, handles the rusted iron much better
