FISHER F2 OR ACE 250

I'm new to MD and am going to be getting my first detector and it's a toss up between the F2 and the ACE 250 and was looking for opinions as to which is the better unit? I like the idea that the Fisher has a 5 year warranty and comes with the 4" and 8" coils but the Ace seems to be the favorite among other users.

it is easy to use right out of the box. wieghs 2.6 lbs total. the pinpoint mode seems to be very accurate, using the 4 inch there is almost no reason for pinpoint as it basically gives you a good location of target. Bettery life seems to be very good as I have had mine for a little while and I am still on the batteries it comes with. thats huntin almost daily with it. found silver and gold the first day of use.

Flip side - The pinpoint mode is loud

This is my short review but I have never used the ace 250 so i cant compare them. But for what its worth. I am very pleased with the F2. espicially for the price.

2 votes for the F2, pinpoints better, handles mineralized ground better, free 4" coil, 5 year warranty, and isn't still using 20 year old technology, oh and it's a few bucks less.

Well from what i have heard from a older guy about his Experience
about dealing w/ FISHER i would never buy one of their machines.

He sent in his 1265X which was only like 1 yr old because he could not get it to ground
balance and every time he got it back it still did not work it went back and forth to Fisher
7 times and it was not fixed correctly so he finally shipped it too Keith Willis who
owns a repair shop for fixing metal detectors and keith told him that they had trashed
out his 1265X.

NOW WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT....FISHER
...NOW

Well it's hard to believe he would send the detector in 7 times, I'm just not buying that one. I've had several Fisher detectors and never had a problem with any of them including a CZ-7, Goldbug and the F2. Don't believe everything you hear as the old saying goes.

From the early 1990's until 2002 Fishers were my main detectors for relics and deep coin hunting. I had quite a few of them, including a 1265, two 1266's that have almost identical circuitry as the 1265 and five CZ's, and never had any problems with any of them. The 1265's and 1266's had preset ground balance, so if the guy was trying to ground balance a 1265 he had to pull the board and do it with a trimmer pot, R205 if I remember right. The trimmer pot only requires a very tiny movement to make a big difference in how the ground balance is set and it's right beside an amp that's easily damaged if a slip is made, so it's very easy to screw up.

Well I didn't want to say it in my first post but I thought this guy may have been tinkering with the electronics and then sending it back to Fisher to fix his slight adjustments or what ever you want to call it, 7 times come on, this guy probably is the one that trashed the machine not Fisher.
