Fisher F2 Issue

Greetings all. I recently purchased a Fisher F2 for my son. It arrived today from KellyCo. I quickly assembled it and walked outside to give it a whirl. As soon as you turn it on the VDI goes insane and the machine starts beeping very erratically. I lowered the sensitivity all the way and this did not correct the issue. The only way to shut it up is notch out everything but penny dime and quarter. If you go lower it just beeps constantly no matter if the coil is on the ground or in the air. I switched to the small coil and tried to bench test it and that seems slightly more stable but I am wondering if anyone has this issue or knows what is causing it. It is rather despairing that this is happening.

have not had that happen to mine!..i suggest a call to first texas is in order!

Sounds like EMI to me, try going out to a park or field somewhere away from houses and see if it still does it.

It has since been repaired and performance seems fine now...

I have to wonder if they even test these machines before they ship them out?!

On a positive note, their customer service is very responsive. Felix is top-notch.

I have a F2 and no problems with it. Sounds like EMI and I'd try turning down the sensitivity and trying another location. If it doesn't stop I'd call Kellyco and maybe send it back to be checked. I use my F2 more than my F4 it seems now......great machine.
Good luck getting it working properly and hope you find lost of coins.

I developed the same problem with my wife's F2....it would go crazy for no reason whether on the ground or 6' on the air. I tried reducing sensitivity, changing coils and changing locations to no avail.
I did find that if I gave it a big target (i.e. my sand scoop) it would calm down for a short time. My last hunt was
at the beach using it with a sniper coil to check the scoop holes below the water table...I still managed to get over 100 coins and two rings.
I e-mailed Fisher and was very surprised to get a phone call in return....their customer service is top notch. I will be sending it in for a tune-up.
I have been very pleased with the performance of the F2...my wife uses it more than her Ace 250 and I grab it once in a while for backup to my EX II and GTI 1500.
