Fisher f19

Fisher f19, 1266X, 1270X in my house. My f19 performed well in my 1st 10 hours of hunting over a 5 day period. The f19 reminded me to trust my machine telling me yeah it's that deep! Depth an target separation are exceptional on f19, it's light an is a silent killer. Easy ground balancing an setup with digital interface (my first). After 8 hours I had a good handle on pinpointing an I needed no handheld pin pointer, less to carry since I use a cane to get up an down.

Lucky for me there is a empty lot near me to practice my skills an I was a little rusty. 1st target Clad penny at 5", 2nd dig was an old military style medal at 8" an so on. Great discrimination that again I needed to trust my machine to dig less trash! F19 found 1 Indian head deep, a nice little silver buckle, a couple bucks in clad coins, 2 large caliber bullets in a clip, a thimble, a game token plus misc scrap an junk.

No stability or other issues with my f19, well constructed an standard coil is great for high trash areas in yards or smaller parks. The cameo coil makes it a litter harder for me to visualize the center of the coil to pinpoint so I'll put a bright sticker near center. My f19 delivered what it promised in my opinion. The f19 is a coin killer with great depth, pin pointing an target separation even in the middle of a lot of trash.

Next I am setting up the notch feature to get the nickels I passed up, a gold ring would be cool also. This is a well rounded machine that delivers!

I don't know how the F19 notch works but if is anything like the F75, you will want to know how to do a factory reset after messing with the notch. You can get some pretty strange problems if something gets set and you don't realize it.

Always nice to get a good report on a new machine.

There is nothing better than confidence in your detector and the F19 is easy to be confident in.

Thanks for the post.

1st, Thank You for your service! I'm Retired AF. Funny you mention the notch thing as I noticed the f19 lost my notch setting after power off/on but I'm new to the digital interface.

After I set up a nickel notch setting with the f19 I pulled a nice silver women's ring with a big cluster of little diamonds plus a no date Buffalo Nickel an a few wheat pennies. I also rejected the zinc junk pennies an most pull tabs on my f19 setup so for me the notch settings are useful for me, less up an down on my old back. I'll post a picture of the ring after I get it off my cell, not washed up yet. I am trying to find a way to connect my wooden can to my f19 so I could get up an down with a free hand.

First, congrats on finding the silver ring! :clapping:

Second, congrats on finding a Buffalo Nickel as well as some older wheat-back pennies. Buffalo Nickels are the more difficult 5¢ piece for me to find the past forty years or so. They came along fairly often from '65 to about the mid to latter '70s, but I have found far more 'V' and Shield nickels over the past 30" years than I have Buffalo types.

But since you are hunting places than can produce older-dated US coins, I think a caution reminder is in order.

Notch Discrimination, on any make or model, or use of a high Discrimination setting, are not choices I like because of the potential loss of desirable targets. Personally, I never use a Discriminate setting higher than just enough to reject iron nails. That's it, just iron nails. More Discrimination, including Notch Disc., is going to eliminate your odds of finding a lot of, or most, gold jewelry, a lot of silver jewelry, and nice older coins.

If you are rejecting the modern Zinc Cent, you are also going to be rejecting the majority of Flying Eagle cents, Indian Head Cents, and many early-date Wheaties from the 1909 to about 1920 period. If you are finding Buffalo nickels and some Wheat-Back cents, you could be missing other early era coins by using too much rejection.

Just a reminder.
