Fisher "F" Series vs CZ3d

You guys that have used both, how do you compare them to each other? Just wondering what advantages the frequencies have over each other. I have the Fisher F70 but have been thinking about adding the 3d, used the CZ6a for a few years but never have used the 3d. Thanks and HH John

I am also interested in this. I had 2 CZ 3Ds, sold one to a friend and now have been thinking about selling my 7a and getting the F75, i have read a lot about how they compare, but i would like someone who owns both and hunted with both on the same site to comment. I am particularly interested in how the two handle iron, compare in depth, and how much does noise and interference play a role with F75.

Please comment.

I have a CZ7, CZ3D, and my favorite the F75... hunted a recently bladed lot with the F75 and purposely re-checked the lot with my CZ3D (on the side of the lot with my 5

Thanks for the great review Robert. I was aware of the chatter, and that's pretty much the only thing that has prevented me from getting an F75. I guess if you compare the F75 with stock DD coil to a 3D with 5'' coil the adjacent target separation is about the same, but the depth of the F75 is about 3 to 4 inches more for a dime. Am i correct to assume that?

I guess i was hoping for a comparison of the two detectors with the 3D using the 8'' and 10.5'' coil, vs F75 stock DD coil, because in many places the oldies are just too deep for the 5'' coil.

Basically F is light CZ is probably average weight of that era, F is noisy with EMI CZ is quiet, F series has had some problems with going back to factory being new kid on the block, CZ problems are few and far between, CZ seems to be of a better build quality than F, F can be swung faster for more coverage than a CZ which needs a slower swing, both like iron to a degree with F being better at handling iron, both are capable of excellent depth but expect a learning period with F and of course a CZ is user friendly. F has a better more accurate meter than CZ but CZ seems to lock on targets better...Of course both have a 5 year warranty but on the whole like comparing apples to oranges as both are good units in their own right in the hands of an experienced operator and we all have our favorites and lets not forget the first CZ came out in 1992 and F series units have only been around a short time in comparison..

we all have different soils in which we hunt... lots of clay here in Oklahoma... the 3D, with stock coil (sens 8 - disc 0), gives a sweet faint high tone with the coil 2" from the ground on a 8" silver dime in my test bed... the F75, with stock coil (sens 60/default - disc 0), rings loud and clear on this dime with the coil 2" from the ground... F75 (sens 85 - disc 0) gets this dime with the coil 5" from the ground... I'll plant another silver dime at 12" and once the ground settles, we'll see which can still see it...

don't have a 10.5'' coil for my 3D, but there is no doubt in my mind this would even the field, depth wise, for these two machines... Robert...

Thanks guys. Yes, Bertman, let us know if the cz picks up that dime at 12''. The 10.5'' coil only goes 1.5 inches deeper than the stock coil, so you can do a pretty good estimate if it gets it at 10'' to 10.5 with stock coil then it should hit it at 12'' with 10.5'' coil.

Depth is not what i am most worried about, i am more concerned with recovery speed. Iron masking is the biggest problem when it comes to pulling out the good ones. I have been looking at some videos of F75 and other detectors, and how they compare in recovery speed. Found this series on youtube, this video futures the F75:

In this video the recovery speed seems a bit worse compared to what i have read about, i think he needs to play around with the settings, which he doesn't get into. But i found another clip from someone else doing a different test but same idea:

Thought this was impressive, not sure why it couldn't do the same with the nail.

The F75 will do the same with a nail... if you use disc 0 and 2F tones, the F75 will grunt and chirp on the iron and give a smooth signal on all other metals...
before I bought my F75, I read numerous posts, on this forum and others by a gentleman who goes by "Streak!"... use the search and read his posts for much more information than I can provide... Robert

Note: the sooner you can run disc 0 and sens as high as you can, the more relics, coins, etc. will fill your pouch... F75, what an awesome machine...

Thanks for the tip. I looked trough some of the posts (there are a ton of them!) I have also been researching on the Dankowski forum, there is some really good advice there. I bet once i buy the F75, they are going to come out with a new machine a few weeks later:) When did the F75 come out, i think in the fall of 2007? SO they are due for another one, and i figure that after 2 years they might have something good lined up.

if you can hold out, which I suspect you can with that 3D, you might be rewarded with a heck of a machine... can't wait until one is manufactured that allows you to see an image of what is under the coil... kinda like a fish finder does... HH Robert

CZ-3D has 2 fre 5 and 15,3d would be the one i would pick. I have both, but the f series seem to have more noise than i would like to hear, and the numbers are a little jumpy.although the f series is always with me for a back upunit.

I have been hunting with my CZ3d and pinpointing and double checking signals with my F70. I have the small elliptical coil on the F70 and can reach the
point right down into most holes to locate and verify signals. I enjoy the comparison between the two machines. I pinpoint better with the F70 and probably
dig less trash than with my CZ. The good side of the CZ is that I dig a lot of really cool relics and odd targets that are fun to recover and add to my collection.
They both have their plus side and I would have a really hard time picking one over the other. I think the light weight of the F70 and the vdi system makes it
a good choice for those large area or well manicured lawn hunts. The CZ3d is the choice if there is a chance of something old or unusual showing up.

HH, Don
