Fisher CZ3d or Teknetics Omega 8000

Is this an apples to oranges comparison or is one preferred over the other? I am contemplating trading my Teknetics Omega 8000 for a CZ3d and need feedback on theis. Thanks

If you bought the Omega new, and have a 5 year warranty on it, that would be one plus in favor of the Omega. A used CZ-3D would not have a warranty.

Performance-wise, the older CZ machines were deep and well built/engineered machines. Time spent with them in the field is time well spent.

The two machines CZ3d and Tek Omega are of very different character.

CZ's are particularly good on deep silver on non-trashy sites, and working salt water beaches in the wet stuff. They also do a better job of rejecting steel bottle caps.

The Omega is particularly good on trashy sites, is more user-friendly, and costs a lot less. If you get the 11 inch DD searchcoil (recommended) then the price tag goes up but it's still less than a CZ.

If you're a serious beeperist, for either machine you'll probably want to get a 5 inch accessory searchcoil for the best target separation in heavy trash.

If you're buying used, then my comments on price tag may not apply.

Now a "personal bias" comment: of all the machines we (FTP-Fisher) make, the Omega is my favorite regardless of price.

Thanks for your input. The only issue I have on the Omega is a possible depth issue. I once owned a CZ70 Pro and it was the deepest seeking machine ever. That is why I was considering the CZ3d. However, I do like the Omega and I have found 10 times more clad with it but I havent hit old silver yet. Maybe I am running my sensitivity to low but I dont like all the falsing. I am yet to find any coins deeper than 5 inches.

How is the Omega in the wet sand, not good, fair?

I have owned, through years past, most of the CZ series and the California CZ5 was my favorite. The CZ3D's I had were just terrible! Very poor performers on US 5
