fisher cz 6 coils

Member
fisher told me that my coil was a lil old and that I should replace it soon,
the question the options that I have are 10 inch 5 inch and 8 should I just stay at 8?
I want to use it on parks trails and beach for what I read the 8 is the best all around coil
what do you guys think? any aftermarket coils for this old detectors? any cz coil will work on mine?

If you can buy a 5" too. I never liked the 10" much on my CZ's..It hit way to much deep iron and it read as coins.
I always used the stock 8" till one day a buddy of mine let me run his 5" coil on my machine. Wow it sliced through the trash in parks and found the silver the 8" Masked out due to reset speed I guess.
But over all hunting the 8" seemed to be the choice for me. The 10" was heavy and awkward too in my opinion.

you have to sweep more with the 5 on large parks? can I swing faster with the 5?

exceed it, and you lose depth, miss targets.
All the dual/multis are slow, as is the recovery speed-you need slow [and to X the target in many cases]
With many singles you have more variation in speed [and programs, with differing characteristics.]
I agree with Elton on the 8" being the best all around-if you go with just one.
I use the 10.5 [and a Sunray probe-the weight does not bother me]

It has to process the two frequencies for best results.Slower works better.

Ive read that is a 2 second sweep right? 4 second cycle

I try to sweep no faster than a 2 second cycle. Think of saying, but not rushing "One thousand one" (sweeping left to right) "One thousand two" (sweeping right to left) and repeat. Hear a click or tone and slow down to find what started the detection. Can sweep a little faster in auto tune (all metal).

As others mention, I think the 8 inch coil is the best all around coil. When I've got the CZ6A at the beach, it normally has a big coil on it. There are a couple of beaches where I've found enough iron trash that the 8 inch was needed; but not most beaches. Over dirt I almost never use the big coil, almost always have the 8 inch coil on it. If real trashy, the 5 inch is in order.

Be aware that the CZ6 used a different connector than subsequent CZ models. If you have a stock standard CZ6, other CZ searchcoils won't mate up to it.

It was converted to 5 pin

cool!
