Hi I have bought on Ebay such item it is only electronic main unit with Bilson headphones , as I understand they are waterproof , is whole fisher CZ 6 - waterproof ???
Also where can I get the coil for it???
Thanks to all replies .. Any information about this detector highly appreciated.

no the controll box is NOT water proof.i would contact Ron @ http://www.dixiemetaldetectors.com/splash-page.htm he can help you find a coil.

Then you can use the current CZ coils on your machine as the old coils are hard to find. Plus you can get it tuned up and you will have a good tuned up machine that is in proper working order. :D: :D: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

Last I heard it cost over a hundred dollars for conversion..As the CZ6 was made in 92 and early 93....lots of bucks to put into a 14-15 year old unit...
Fisher will certainly not put CZ6 connectors on other CZ coils and doubt if they even have any..Sort of like a needle in a haystack to find these coils so would start shopping around Fisher dealers etc. and you may get lucky...
For those that don't know CZ6 had a molded connector with 4 pins and all other CZ's after that had a regular connector with 5 pins...
Probably had something to do with the early version relative water resistant as they are not waterproof and would only use in a light drizzle at best..

a old coil on. Now that all depends if you can find a cheap CZ6 coil. Hope you find a old coil. Maybe Keith Wills has one out in Texas. I would looka round first. :D: :D: Jerry aka Tinfoil

My original CZ-6 took 4 pin coils....if this is the case that's what you will need to find. At first I never did the conversion, I asked in classifieds for a Fisher CZ 4-pin plug coil & some guy had one in the closet he was not using & I got it for $40!
So check the plug & ask around....

Bill

I have 4-pin plug , the modern CZ coils have 5-pin plugs? Can modern coil be upgraded to 4-pin ? will it works properly after ?

After 93 plug was updated to the CZ6A plug and has been used on CZ's every since..I don't think Fisher has any of the old plugs as they were not reliable..I know one is four pin and one five pin but a CZ6 coil will work on a CZ6A if the five pin plug is put on and vice versa. Best bet is try to find a CZ6 coil....every now and then one pops up on auctions or detector classifieds...

The unit you bought is a CZ6a,I sold you the unit. They use the current or latest line of CZ coils no mods needed. The CZ6a is weather proof because it doesn't have the louvers for the speaker and sealed.A good rain unit.

The CZ6a was sold to a different guy in the Czech Republic. So the question of the Cz6 coil goes on.I sold these two units at the same time and saw the question about the CZ6 without looking at the sales paperwork.Thank God I have another week off of work believe it or not I work logistics.

Bill Ladd has the right idea and try to pick up a used CZ6 coil...It would be cost prohibitive to get the CZ6 modified to a CZ6A where the convential 5 pin coil connector would work..Certainly would be easy to pick up a a five pin connector and have it converted if the 4 pin connectors were available which I feel are not...Keith Wills has many old parts and perhaps he could help and can be reached at brokendetector.com I believe but to save yourself a lot of grief go with Bills idea and wish you luck...I believe the original CZ6 four pin coil connectors were used as they were molded and helped rel being water resistant however sort of a plan that backfired..If you still don't understand drop me a line and we will go from there...

CZ6 connectors were of the molded type did not work well as many failed and doubt if any are available. If the situation were reversed
a CZ6 coil connector could easily be changed to the present CZ6A type as imagine Fisher has many in stock but not so the CZ6 which was molded and not repairable...

Change the CZ6 connector on the detector to CZ6a
or
change all connectors to hirschmann or binder 4-pin sensor connectors
(thread M12 X 1, like the CZ6 but not the same).

Who knows from witch company are the CZ6 (4-pin) connectors ?
