BOUGHT A NICE CZ-5 NOTICED : i put out several coins on the ground: penny, nickle, dime, quarter.when ever i hit on a coin regardless which one ,most of the time when you move the coil away from the coin the red needle will go and peg out on the dollar icon all the way to the right of the meter.very few times does it stay on the coin that it hit on??is this normal:confused:even when i hit on iron when you move the coil it pegs out on the dollar icon??
also the iron tone is not as loud as the coin tone-----------there is suppose to be three tones but only hear two tones??is this normal ,should it make any big difference ,should it be repair or can i get by this way:confused:

Semperfi61,
Go to the fisher site and down load a manual if you don't have one. The fisher manual site is at: http://www.fisherlab.com/hobby/op_mans.htm

The needle is supposed to stay at the last target the detector circuit thinks it identified. Try sweeping back and forth evenly over one of the coins a few times and see if the needle mostly indicates the correct coin. 1981 and earlier Lincoln pennies, dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars will almost always show up in the highest setting (the dollar one). Zinc pennies (1983 and newer) will show up most of the time on the penny. Nickels will most of the time show as nickels.

All the current US coins should sound on the high tone.

Iron is the low tone.

Get a pull tab, it should sound off mid-tone. Most of the gold jewelry will also come in mid-tone.

My CZ6a is louder on the high tones and softest on the mid-tones. Different headsets may affect the relative loudness of the tones too. My CZ20 is loudest on the high tones and softest on the low tone.

Iron does frequently go to a high tone and put the needle on dollar if you are swinging fast. Try slowing your swing down and see what the detector says.

Note that I say most of the time; target ID is not perfect. Take a little more time with your CZ5 and see if you can get some consistent readings.

If not, see if there is a detector dealer or another detectorist nearby who might help figure out if things are working or need adjustment.

A CZ5 is a pretty good detector. They are generally pretty rugged, but it is not unheard of to have one that could use a little adjustment.

tvr covered that quite well and it appears your lack of experience using a CZ may be adding to your problems but then again it could be faulty. Perhaps a club member, local Fisher dealer or a call to Fisher may be order to help you out as all new units take some time to get used to them and would hate to have you send in a unit for repair if its working correctly..

Bill just got the CZ 5, and it could have been damaged in shipment.

Also he has never used a CZ before.

And Bill is a X Jar Head, so type big and slow, pictures help. :usmc:
