Fisher cz 21

Does anybody use the CZ 21 and how do you like it. I feel let down now that Fisher detectors are "Bountyfish" (Bountyhunter bought Fisher) I always have been a fan of Fisher. Nothing but Fisher and Tesoro for underwater and a Minelab for gold prospecting.

i had a CZ21 when they 1st came out and liked it iv also had 3 CZ20's.and liked them but iv had 4 Excal's and liked them better. the last Excal ll i had was an awsome detector ,much deeper than the CZ's wish i had never sold it! i now run a Sovereign GT on the beach and CZ20 in the water..im thinking about getting another Excal ll.

When the CZ21 was 1st introduced. I had one ordered and it was a CZ21-10(my 1st mistake-should have bought the CZ21-:geek:. I have been water hunting with various brands, since '04. Brands like Garrett Mark II, HH Wader/Diver, Goldquest Aquasearch, Excal 1000 and 800s. I hunt primarily salt water. I hunted the unit for 50 hours and found one gold band, that was unacceptable return on my time and investment. Things could have been different, had I selected the 8" though, as I understand it to be a better performer. OBTW, I was using settings of an expert, who is VERY successful using a CZ and is his weapon of choice. He has used CZ20s for years and is now using a CZ21 and says there is NO difference in performance. I am sure in the right areas they are a great unit, but it's not for me. I sold it and now only have Excal 800s. Does that tell you anything? Best of luck in this VERY important decision.

GH...very interesting about the smaller coils. I have found that I am liking the smaller coils for their sensitivity and target separation.

Gulf Hunter, Thank you very much for your input, I do like the Minelab I have borrowed my brothers and does a great job I have just heard horror stories about Minelab customer service. I have not found a lot of input on the CZ21 and that is why I was asking.
Thanks again for answering my question, It really does give some points to ponder.

You are welcome. Actually, Minelab's customer service is excellent and I've never had an issue(since Jan. '06), other than it takes too long to get units back, when repairs/installations need to be done. Now, this new program, where no aftermarket accessories will be installed by them is a dissappointment, but I can sort of understand their reasoning either way. On the customer's standpoint, it is an inconvenience, that they are no longer able to get those accessories installed, but then again maybe repairs will be expedited, as there will no longer be aftermarket accessories installed. From Minelab's perspective, If they DO install those aftermarket accessories, they will be taking the responsibility that those accessories function correctly, since they did the install. If they don't work, then they may have to redo the install. I see it both ways and like I said, ALL repairs and previous installations at Minelab have been SUPERB for me.

Fishers service dept, I'm not TOO familiar with, but Mike Scott was very helpful and was able to give me some GREAT support. If you DO decide to go the Fisher route, be sure to look him up. I have heard mixed feedbacks from other forum members, but have very little personal experience with Fisher beyond this. Hope this helps.

The more I use the 8", the more I like it. I doubt I will ever go back. The 8" does everything better than the 10", EXCEPT coverage. I can overlap, no worries!

I've been using the CZ-21 for several hunts now and I must say that I like the Excal much more. Both of these units are 10 inch coils but I find the Excal to be more solidly built and offers more feedback than the CZ-21. Depth is no different in my estimation and I don't like the idea of having to manually ground balance the CZ-21. I'd say that the Excal is by far the better unit BUT if you want to buy a CZ-21 that is barely used then drop me a PM.

Cheers,

BDA:cool:

Thanks, This really helps me in a decision on what to purchase. It looks like the Minelab is the way to go.
Thanks again for all input.
