i have the opportunity to purchase a used cz-20 asking price is $650. is this a good price? what should i know before i buy?

Can't help you with the price, got mine nearly new with 10 inch coil 4 years ago on ebay for $703. Control box is real heavy, must be hip mounted. Gets deep gold rings in wet salt sand, at higher sensitivity will give false signal at end of swings but the false signals sound smoother, no problem. Disc # 1 eliminates annoying small iron nail signals. In the dry sand I use my light weight Vaquero, detects gold chains better. Jabbo

Got mine a little over a year ago. Pin point button removed and hole sealed. My understanding is that the pin point switch and the membrane sealing the pin point button are the most frequent failure modes. With 8 inch coil, I really don't miss the pinpoint. I paid $600 and then saw some sell on line for $550 to $580 plus shipping, but most I saw over the past year went in the 600's on line. I didn't see any used ones online right now. I use a chest harness most of the time. Am thinking about trying a straight shaft mount. Great unit in salt water and on wet salt water beach. Can use it anywhere and in the rain. Finds goodies but not real good on thin chains unless chain has a reasonably sized clasp. Check the unit well. Look at battery contacts. They should be clean. Look around the pin point button membrane for cracking. Try it out with some targets and make sure it works.
