fisher customer service for cz6

I got a CZ-6, the discrimination pot is broken, I'm thinking of send it to fisher prolly tuesday for repair, also the needle works when she wants, if I tap the discrimination knob it will move great until she hits a low tone "iron"

my question is that I've read horror stories from new fisher techs - wont go further on this to avoid any discussion

I'm new to fisher brand but teknetics has always got my back with my 3 detectors from them but it seems fisher has become another story

what do you guys think? what precautions should I take? what do you recomend me? am I a lil paranoid? :)

I just don't want to get disappointed and stop buying from them before I even start, I've been watching a lot of videos of the other fisher types of MD they are starting to grow in me :)

thanks in advance

When it was sent in-its there and back, quickly, and correctly done.
Pots are mechanical, and wear out/break.
Call up FRL, ask for Felix. He will take care of things.
(this is original 6, not a 6A?-if the former might be good time to convert it to, latter )

I think mine is converted, it has a 5 pin metallic coil plug

How much they charge you?

Five pin its been converted to CZ6A....Have them give you an estimate...before they repair...Its 1992 vintage or so ...your call rel what you want to spend for repair....

if you have the pigtail adapter for headphones, its a 6; if its a normal plug its been converted to 6A
Fisher parts, like pots are cheap-I think the labor fee is a standard rate.
My CZ 6 covert to 6A went back three times in all the years I have owned it; one was the conversion, one was the meter during warranty,
and once out of warranty-one of the freq. crystals was out-parts in the last was $50.
Not back for a unit 24-25 years old, that is still about as deep as anything out.
Thanks Dave J. for a great design.

Hey juit ,I sent my CZ5 in for a sticking meter . The only meters available are for cz3ds , but that is is fine . Took two weeks and cost $80.00,now it works perfectly,it was th only issue I have ever had with my CZ. I bought it new in 1993 . They inspected it ,did minor tuneup . It now has a super smooth all metal mode. Best coin detector I have ever had and well worth the repair cost. HH Tony

nice I took it today for a spin on the beach, he was penny hungry today

they dont want to give me an estimate

You mean that they won't give you an estimate over the phone - without seeing the detector? No detector company would do that.

The problem is that if they tell you - let's say - $125, and it gets there and has really big problems like corrosion or a broken circuit board, you are going to be pissed when they say, sorry, that will be $300. You'll say - "I mever would have sent it if Imknew it was going to be that much....etc."

Ive told them how much for the cz3d need leand the positometer in case theres something else wrong i know it would be more

Its like when you take your car for a wheel change at least you know the price of tires, balance ,rotation etc. If you know how much is going to be the tires that you want and you cant afford for them you simply wait until return tax day or lets you prepare for that amount of money to spend on that detector

My questions is clear, how much it will cost a replacement screen and a positometer? Is that so hard to answer? If its more is ok but we all know that they have an estimate for both of those parts, no need to be ninja mistery IMO

I think Rick pretty much hit it on the head.

They aren't going to give you an estimate based on what you say is wrong with the unit when they haven't looked at it.

That's common practice with any business that does repairs.

BTW, what is a "positometer"?

Potentiometer sorry, i am sending the unit today ortomorrow i hope i dont regret it, about bussines that do repairs thats not true ive been working for paintball guns and if you need an estimate from lets say "boblong" they will give it without hessitation

Board 80
Hoses 15
1 hour fee 15
Ship back is on us
Turn around 7 days
If it needs anything else or take more time ill let you know

The company is US and deal with a lot of moddified rifles
This company won me after i sent my first marker and i never change from brand because i felt that they were cristal clear, paintball markers are really sophisticated this days its a no shinanigans company

Also i had a bad exp in the past with a company that work like that and promise my self i would never do bussines with them again, never did, not saying that fisher is bad, for what people been saying here they look like a nice company that do their stuff their own way and i have to respect that :) , prolly that was my main concern because of my past bad exp also i really treasure my cz6 and dont want anything bad happen to it

Send it to Keith Wills at East Texas Metal Detectors. He can repair it (he works on everything-even back to the '70's) and he
gets parts from FRL.-if something is needed specific; I know some things are generic.
And he can properly tune a CZ.

He does not have the needles screen :( ive alredy tried to contact him

The meter some time it works! I test ityesterday at the beach

My new CZ-6, in '92 started reading targets between categories, something not supposed to happen.
I sent it in, was told "sometimes they go bad," and meter was replaced.
Other than a crystal going out, its been a very rugged detector.
(I never touch the disc. pot and leave it on 0. Sometimes iron comes through false at high notches if set to knock out iron)

Hahahaha you are right on the iron it happened to me with a big screw
