Fisher coinstrike or id excell with sunray probe

Hi,

I am new into the fisher world, never used one but have used every other major brand. I'm looking into buying one of two detectors. The fisher coinstrike or the Id excell that comes also with the sunray probe. I have owned the sunray probe on my minelabs. Is the extra features on the coinstrike going to be worth giving up the probe?

There's a used Fisher Coin Strike for sale in the classifieds section of these forums now.

Noticed the Coin$trike was sold. You get it Travis? I have one and love it. It is a powerful detector and will require some time to get the most out of it. Let us know if you have any questions. For the price used they are hard to beat.

yep sure did. I'm hoping to have it next weekend, seemed like a really great deal and the seller seems to be really friendly and helpful.

As far as I know the Coin$trike was only made in Los Banos but I'm not 100% sure. The CZ3D, 1270X, Goldbug 2 and CZ21 are still being made by First Texas.

My Coin$trike is well made, feels solid and performs well. My biggest grip and is echoed by many is the keypad. There is really no tactile feedback and you have to press they keys firmly. The main issue is you have to hold the keys down for a sec or so before the key press is accepted. It seems like the delay was designed to prevent inadvertent key presses but is not needed. I wish the delay could be programmed out. A click or beeping sound would have been a nice option.

There are two optional coils available, a 5" and 12.5". I have not tried them yet.

It does take awhile to learn to use the Coin$trike because there are so many combinations of settings that can be used. This makes the unit more versatile and powerful but frustrating if you try to do too much with it at first,

I'd set the Sen to 5, threshold to -25, Disc to 99 initially to get used to how it performs. The TID takes awhile to learn what it is telling you and will be different depending on ground, depth, etc. If you master the Coin$trike you will be on your way to being well versed in the use of MD technology and in my opinion will translate well to other detectors.
