fisher 1280x

WALT FISCHER

New member
Just recently purchased a new Fisher 1280x metal detector. I am brand new to the sport an I am looking forward to trying out my detector. Does anyone have any input on how best to use the detector on land vs beaches? I would appreciate any help to get me started in my new hobby. I live in Michigan and I thought it would make a good all purpose detector for land and water. Any pros or cons of this detector?

My buddy has one along with a CZ21 and really likes it for lake hunting. He's done well with the machine and it finds the targets.

Its been used on salt beaches but works better in freshwater.

Works fine on land too!

The 1280 is a Great fresh water detector. I use mine in lakes & also on salt water beaches. On salt water it talks back abit just have to lower sen. . I run mine at 6 on salt sometimes a bit higher. My disc around 4 , sample run some small & lg. rings under the coil, that will help in the settings. Good luck
