Fisher 1280X on NC Beaches--experiences?

I am curious about this particular detector. The CZ-21 is too pricey. Can anyone share their opinions and experience using the 1280 on NC beaches? Is it stable in vs out of the water. I had a White's ID 300 that I used several times at Onslow Beach. I found that it was very sensitive, yet in the water I had a lot of noise in the waves. I would turn down the sensitivity to help. I would love an Ecal, but that is mighty pricey too. How about in fresh water, how does the 1280X perform? Thanks for any and all experiences shared. I am in Goldsboro, so I don't get to the beach enough to pay for an Excal or CZ-21. Bryan

I USED THE 1280 FOR MANY YEARS ON SALT WATER IN LONG ISLAND RIGHT UP TO THE WATER LINE WITH NO PROBLEM. LET ME TELL YOU ONE THING DON'T BELIVE YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE SURF TO FIND RINGS, I HAVE FOUND MORE "GOLD" IN THE DRY SAND THEN YOU CAN SWING A DETECTOR AT. BIGGEST FIND WAS A ROLEX WATCH POST HERE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. THE TOP OF THE BEACH IS WHERE PEOPLE CHANGE THEIR CLOTHS, SHAKE THEIR BLANKETS OUT. A BEACH NEVER GETS HUNTED OUT MY FRIEND. FRESH WATER LAKES AS LONG AS THE COILS ARE WATER PROOF. DOING THIS 50+ YEARS NOW 71 YEARS (20-30 HOURS A WEEK HERE IN VIRGINIA
USING A CZ21, A GARRETT AT PRO. FIRST DETECTOR WAS A GARRETT BFO:hot:

Just recently was talking to someone about this machine. Its single frequency which means it wont detect wet salt sand well at all. On the dry sand it will do fine but it probably will not do well in the wet stuff. I would imagine you will get tons of false signals due the high mineralized beaches here in NC (at least thats been my experience with other single freq machines and now I have a cz21). If you cannot afford a cz21/excal and do not want a used one you might be best off with a PI machine although you will be digging tons of fishing lures.

Thanks for the comments. I have looked at the AT Pro too. I may just have to save my money if I want a CZ21 or Excal.....
