Fisher 1280-X "Wader" Impressions Wanted

I'm tgoing to buy a Fisher 1280-X "Wader" and am wondering if anyone has any impressions about this detector as a wet sand/beach hunter? Your inputs would be appreciated. Thanks

i had one of the 1st 1280,s . but it must have been 20 odd years ago. don't see many people using them in the UK now. but i would have said you could do a lot better with a minelab or buy a PI

Hello AshMonkey. I've always been interested in the Fisher models but never owned one. Reading all the reviews that I could find it seems to be a very good detector. Living here in Florida the F/Wader seems just correct for beach and water wading. I've not seen hardly any negative remarks about them and by putting waterproof headphone on it will allow diving down to 250 foot depths and becomes the Aquanaut. (Yeah, like I really know how to scuba dive. LoL) It's an older unit but looks very well cared for and am hopeing not needing a tune-up. For the price I'll be paying is in line what I can afford as a second water detector. My first is the Beach Hunter ID. Thanks

You would be much better served by a Minelab Sov used or new or if you have to have a Fisher then a CZ series would be a better choice for saltwater beaches. The Fisher 1280 was a good detector in it's day but it's day has come and gone a long time ago. I had one when they first came out and used it for about 5 years. But the multifrequency machines blow it away on a Saltwater Beach. JMHO
