The 1270 has a manual ground balance in the all metal mode only. It is pre-set in the discriminate mode.
 
i would like to know more about how to use the iron disc what kind of sounds from the detector am i looking for lets just say that i have a piece of iron mixed in with a good target is the detector going to sound off on the good target or on the bad target what is the ratio
 
I often hunt in the Iron Disc and toggle to Normal Disc for further information before digging. I only do this in non-trashy areas where I think there are some deep, good targets. The Iron Disc can be set to eliminate small iron and seems to sound off better and go a little deeper on other targets. The sounds of a good target in Iron Disc are no different than in Normal Disc.
